I'm taking my team to the range on Thursday afternoon (probably going on Wednesday by myself as well...) as a team building exercise. Do you guys still do rentals? They'll probably just shoot my weapons, but they may want to rent a "Glock" or a "Glock" or a "Glock".

Oh, and will Range 1 be open? They want to shoot my AR. :ak47:

We'll have Glocks, $15/hour, plus ammo. Long-guns= $30/hour. See you tomorrow or Thursday!

So what's going on there now? I read on MD Shooters that SEG is closed and laid everyone off?

I think you can chalk that one up to pure rumor mill. They are closed on Monday & Tuesday and IDPA matches scheduled through next month (March).

They charged me for February so I doubt that, but I wasn't able to go last week so who knows.

I heard about the personnel shuffle as well. No idea how it may affect range operations though. I'm signed up for an IDPA match mid next month.

I don't think they were ever closed. I think they are just changing management from what I am hearing.

Just got back from SEG and had a nice chat with the ever charming CiCi.....

All they have done is shuffle some employees around and brough tin a very nice lady named Kathy as the new GM. Range 1 was full of a class and us casual shooters were in Rage 2. BTW - it was "Hottie at teh Range Day".

Kathy indicated that they wanted to "kick things into high gear." I spoke with Dave at the counter and he told me he was getting some "stupid money" for rentals and was going to greatly expand that service. They are no longer selling firearms (I didn't ask about transfers) but still have lits of accessories, ammo and targets.

So, get on up there.

They are NOT doing transfers anymore, either.

Thanks KaosDad for the update. Not sure what I would do if SEG closed. I refuse to go to BRA for the lack of ROs and the nasty range they have.

There are cheaper options for transfers in the area. NovaArmament in Herndon is $25 + $2 (VSP) for a transfer. I think SEG charged $35 for a transfer last time I checked.

Just got back from the range today and they're open.

All I know is that they're restructuring internal management and shuffling the staff around. SEG is still my default range for my shooting addiction.

...oh and I love CiCi and the RSOs that work there (Jack, Ryan, etc)

How about gunsmithing? Or did they surrender their FFL? A 01 not doing retail sales or transfers will have some difficulty come renewal time... Oh wait, maybe that's where the political contributions come in. Clever business plan!

You haven't been there in a while then. Things have changed. I went Sat after a ~6mth break. Bright, well lit, serious improvement to the airhandlers, and an RO on the range at all times.

But they still don't have those sequence programmable carriers like SEG. Those are fun.

You're right, I haven't been there in a while. I went several times while trying to decide memberships between BRA and SEG. Ultimately picked SEG for their cleaner facilities, state of the art ventilation system (at least that was what I was told) and minimal wait at the time. Good to hear they made improvements, at times it felt like I came out of a sauna after shooting for 30 mins.

I should go check it out some time, but will probably keep my membership at SEG given its a 10min drive.
