The metro is convenient but might present a problem if we're all carrying signs and other stuff. IMO we should plan to coordinate buses. That way no one is "denied" transportation in the event metro becomes incensed by our presence.

- All Metro stations are wheelchair accessible with elevators and wide doors, etc...

All metro stations are wheel chair accessible but they do have frequent problems with elevators. Would be a good thing to check the station before getting there to find the elevator out of service. I'm not sure how they handle wheel chairs in those cases.

Leyla,

What kind of help can you use? Might help us decide who fits best where?

Sorry if it did not come across clear. In short, this is what I posted and this is what I need help with:

Now, here is what I am asking you to do: contact me to start working on our event! I am just one person with full time job. If we have 10-20 people working on this it would not feel as exhausting as my last few months have been. We need to
- line up speakers who come from various background, live/work in various locations/settings
- start writing to local news outlets about our mission and asking them to cover our event
- set up town-hall style meeting where I can come and talk to people. I will travel -- you just need to set the place/time and spread the word to get people to come
- donate and ask your friends to donate. We will have to have small expenses (printing signs comes to mind immediately) for the Virginia march, but the DC march is still under-funded (see our home page) and those expenses cannot be avoided
- once the petition is finalized - we need to start collecting signatures. Anyone willing to help?

I can serve on this committee. Would prefer not to lead it, but can certainly contribute. Please let me know who I need to contact.

I can do that and send to several papers if you like or make calls. Please send me an email with details so we can coordinate.

Do you plan to attend the VGOF OC Picnic? I don't know how big the audience will be, but I would be more than happy to give you some time to speak. I'll even cook you a hamburger! :)

I will try and be there - most likely in the 11am-1pm time block. I also posted about the picnic on our forum. Hope to see many of you there.

Thank you,

Brian Jeffs is our Michigan coordinator and has raised almost $8000 so far in Michigan (which from what I hear is having one of the hardest hit econonies as a state)!

Hope you like the video and forward it to your friends.

So I was really impressed with the recent paper that came out (if you receive the 2A march emails that you got it in yout inbox 2-3 weeks ago) and I made it into a flyer. I am going to print out the attached and pass it out to all the mailboxes in my neighborhood. The last page has just a clipart I found.

If anyone has a suggestion for something better to put on the last page, let me know and I'll change it. Anyway, thought others here might like to do the same (print and distribute).

A WORD OF CAUTION - Be careful how you distribute the flyer. Putting something into someones mailbox may not be legal. I've been pinged before by the Post Office. I used to be part of an HOA (only 20 homes) and would distribute letters, announcements, etc by putting them in the mailbox and raising the flag. I was informed by the PO that was a big no-no. Please check before you do that. An anti-gun nut might get you in trouble.

I'll second DK's comment about placing anything other than mail in the mailbox. Around here, people will fold the flier and slip it between the mailbox and the flag.
