I am careful to not make any moves that are provocative if stopped but WILL NEVER disclose anything to anyone. I was given the treatment by a Deputy for not informing her and I remained silent. DO NOT LIE but you have no need to say anything. Speaking to LEO's can never improve the situation. If you disclose that you are carrying they WILL give you serious look-over. Rarely over my 25+ years of carrying have I had to bring it up unless I had to retrieve something from the compartment where I had a gun.

We all know that most LEO's are regular people doing a tough job, why insert a weapon into a speeding ticket, take the ticket and go on your way.

Having been on both sides of the badge, I can tell you that telling the officer about the gun is a courtesy that goes along way in his mind, and ultimately in your favor. I always teach my students that its not required but it is alot safer if you do disclose it.
