Sneeze huh? I've heard those war stories about AK's a lot myself..Loyal bunch ain;t they?
Figured we could use a little action there..... I;ve seen AK's turned into clubs after being dropped and some that just wouldn;t quit,,My luck has all been good with M16's/ AR15's , the ones I built and the ones I owned prior to that...

No, not sneeze. I was attempting to raise the level of AR vs. AK discussion a bit by getting things started off well.

I've had good luck with mine too, but I lube the living daylights out of them too...just like the military recommends.

You'll start a flame work with the AK guys over that one!

I once knew a guy who had a cousin, who's brother's mother's friend sneezed on his AR15 and it never worked again! Now his AK was thrown in a river and used as a bridge while a 10 tank divisions drove over it and it shoots everything you put in it...including 50BMG!

Indeed. Given a choice between the 2 platforms and I'd pick an AK any day especially for a SHTF situation. You simply cant beat the reliability or stopping power compared to an AR...in .223/5.56. Granted a .308 is a great cartridge I'm not completely convinced yet that the AR configuration for it has been completely shaken out yet...

Figured you were kidding about the sneeze there gunderwood,,,, But in another light sometimes it does takes just a very minor glitch and something will fail to function.....This is a topic we can tear up bandwidth with forever and still get nowhere,,, Suffice it to say we all have quirks and our reasons to prefer a specific weapon... Like gunderwood I keep mine well lubed and clean and the payback is the good performance.// I will be adding an AK or too to my cabinet at some future date, Just gotta get the right one at the right price..... Rock On !

I bought an AK, too. Cheap rifle, cheap ammo. May/may not be really reliable, I didn't keep it long enough to find out.

Its proportioned for a "small" person. I'm 6'3' and unless I could find a long aftermarket butt stock it might "feel" better.

Handgun sights belong on a handgun.

Not the best way of attaching/using a sling I've seen either.

Maybe accuracy would be better than "ho hum" if it had better sights, better stock, better sling set up, a better trigger, and some good reloads.

No doubt they have their place, just not in my gun cabinet. Might make a dandy short range/brush gun for deer though, but I've got a .308 or two that feel that slot, too.

Are you referring tot the short sight radius? I thought the same thing but then I discovered it's very close to the length of the AR Sights.

The distance from your eye to the sight and the sight picture makes it look like you're shooting a handgun. I've gotten "partial" to the sight picture on the M1 Garand (which is similar to the AR, the M14/M1A, the M1917, etc.

Er... I got one because when the SHTF, the military uses the same magazines, and ammo...

It's cold. I know... but... Practicality leads in a disaster.

The SHTF argument is a good, sound one.
I never wanted one because I prefer traditional guns, but my son finally talked me into one, after which I was glad I got one, because.......BECAUSE.......????

Well, shucks, because (1) they make the .50 cal Beowulf on thr AR frame, and (2) they're right much fun to shoot, and (3) they don't cost a war debt to operate, but MOSTLY BECAUSE..........................

It p!sses off the liberals so bad the pee goes in their PANTS!

I'm buying parts now for the latest build.

Spike's Tactical lower receiver and chrome bolt/bolt carrier and lower parts kit with the 2 stage RRA match trigger from RRA brought home from the last Richmond gun show.

This weekend i ordered a VLTOR carbine butt stock and the stuff to put it together. A nickle boron coated upper receiver (the chrome RRA bolt went into my last .223 carbine and the nickle boron coated bolt went into the drawer to await the barrel/upper receiver, etc. to build the top end) was also ordered, along with miscellaneous small parts and accessories.

This will be a "special" AR so I've got to get some paperwork filled out and approved prior to buying the short barrel and suppressor.

I've decided I want an AR in .300 AAC Black Out. I'm gonna try me some heavy, slow cast lead bullets once I get it all broke in.

Sweet. Now that is something you've got to bring to a meet and great once the paperwork is done.
