Re: Recommendations for first Handgun?
This might be a good excuse for another weekend meet and greet! Everyone could bring a few of their collection out and let them try 20 or more different handguns from the group's collection??

We are tentatively planning on March 27, a week from this Saturday. I have a Glock model 30 which is a sub compact .45, a Ruger P89 9mm and a Taurus .327 Federal Magnum and you and your wife would be welcome to try any one of them. I am sure other members would be happy to let you try some other guns. This way you can try out a variety without having to rent a bunch of range guns. There should be a sign up list in the meet and greet forum soon. Hope you can make it.

Look into IDPA pistol shoots for Defensive Pistol practise. Here in Roanoke, the Roanoke Rifle and Revolver Club has them second Saturday of the month. Check around your area for a shoot. They are great for training and building the basics for self defence.

I would have to second the motion for a revolver for CC. They work in coat pockets, too, where a semi would probably catch on something and jam.
For home defense...00 Buckshot in 20-gauge or larger. If that doesn't take down the bad guy, nothin' will!
