Hey all, I'm new to muzzleloaders and this site. I just thought I'd chime in to say I bought my first muzzleloader. A CVA Electra. I know its frowned on by some but hey it is a gun and I'm not an anti gun nut so that should count for something.
The gun shoots great and is very accurate. I’m using Jim Shocky’s gold now but started with Pyrodex Pellets. Both ignited perfectly but I liked the idea of being able to play with the amount of grains for better accuracy. Using 90 grains now with Thompson 250 bonded shockwave sabots.

Wow,I can't get over you guys with all this new fangled stuff!All I have for blackpowder guns is an old 1862 2 band Springfield,and a second model Maynard.

1851 Navy Colt revolver, broken down import .45 Kentucky percussion, T/C Encore ProHunter 209x50 in which I use 100 gr. Blackhorn 209 and 250 gr. Hornady XTP in .452 with MMP black sabot. or 240 Hornady XTP with some flavor of green sabot (comes in a package).

TC Encore Stainless w/BlackIce coating on all parts. I shoot only Buckhorne 209. For bullets my gun performs with Hornady .300gr SST's and Barnes 300gr TMX.
One kill last season (one shot) nice 5 pointer at ranged 188 yrds. Bedford County.

I've got a Thompson Center Grey Hawk and Remington 700ML. Both in 50 cal.

First off, I own no in-lines. I have no interest in them. My interest is mostly historical. I have a few reproductions, mostly flintlocks. Repo 1860 colt. A mid 1800's 10ga double in good condition for its age. Also have a vintage barrel barrel for a future build; a very heavy target barrel with no sign of rifling left, plan to bore it out to a 8ga smooth bore.

I myself have a Thompson Center .50. Got my very first deer with it, Iron Sights at 75 yards. Great 6 point. Best part was my Dad and I trying to see if I hit the darn thing with all the smoke in front of the stand.

I have lots 'o Civil War stuff. First thing was a Richmond Musket, still in great condition and hasn't been used in a few years. It hangs on the wall, bayonet fixed. Keeps the blue bellies at bay. Also have two Enfield Musketoons. Trying to get rid of one, so if you need/want (no one really NEEDS a musketoon) the musketoon, just email me and I will be glad to send pictures. The next buy was a Sharps Carbine, another great replica. During one reenactment though I did manage to nearly blind myself when I stuck a cartridge in the barrel when the last paper cartridge hadn't completely burned off. What resulted was a big poof and a lot of black powder smoke directly into my eyes. Could have been worse.
I have three black powder pistols. Brass Colt Navy .36, Remington .44, and my favorite, a dragoon. I got the dragoon for an extra Remington I had. The guy had taken the blue off of the dragoon so it kept rusting on him and ticking him off. My father and I nursed the dragoon back to health, ie put blue on it and kept it oiled and safe, and to this day I haven't had a problem with rust.

I will leave here with a great moment for every black powder lover/sufferer.

I was qualifying on a base one day prior to deer season, and a father and son were right ahead of me. The father slowly and methodically loaded his black powder, bullet, and finally the primer. He then handed his son the primer case. the kid immediately turned around and accidentally dumped the whole primer case on the cement. The resulting splash of brass as it sailed through the air was beautiful. The shiny brass tickled the morning sunlight, a wonderful sight of nature.

Totally lost on the father though. He just looked pi$$ed

Only one, an 1863 Remington Zouave. I have only fired it one time, I'm sure it's had many a round fired through it in it's lifetime though!

I have had many black powder guns since I was 15 years old. My first was a double barrle 12 gauge black powder shotgun,then a CVA. Hawking 50 cal. that I built from a kit, A CVA. 32 cal. squirrel rifle built from a kit, Traditions 50 cal. Pennsylvania long rifle, CVA. 50 cal. Kentucky hunter and then I started fooling with flintlocks, First a Lyman Great Plains Rifle in 50 cal. Then I started building my own from scratch. First I built a 62 cal. French type C trade gun. Then I built a couple of early J. Dickert style 50 cal. long rifles and the last gun I built was a 62 cal. smooth rifle. I got into reenacting the War between the States,and purchased a 58 cal. Armisport Enfield rifle,which I had made period correct by the arsenal at Harper's Ferry. Then I progressed into the in-lines. First a CVA. inline 50 cal. buck horn, A CVA. 45 cal. magbolt and finally a 50 cal. CVA. Optima Pro.

Sorry I'm late on posting here. Just caught up with this thread.
The only M/L I have is a Lyman GPR. It's a .54 caliber in left hand caplock. I use a hand made power horn, a hand made leather possibles bag and all the tools in the bag are hand made.
Just thought it would be fun to be period correct with the rifle and stuff that runs it.
Haven't gotten to period correct on the clothing, though. Never ventured that far.
The rifle's fun to shoot, though. I can put a .535 ball through a 6 inch coffee can at a hunnerd on the bench. No way I could do that off hand. At a hunnerd, the dern coffee can ain't no bigger'n the front sight! That's hard to hit when you're 58 and got arthritis in yer elbows. Hang, sometimes I can't hit a 5 gallon bucket!!

CVA Optima Elite in .50 Cal. Love it, but don't use it anymore.

Yup...my BP rifle of choice too...

Looks like I might have a trade offer in on it. A guy wants to trade me a Ruger P89 for it. We'll see....
