Two reasons:

1 - simply because I love guns
2 - trade fodder - for other guns

I buy guns for the needs I have.

Home defense: Mossberg 500 18"
Turkey/ waterfoul: Mossberg 535
Elk: 7mm mag
Deer/Bear: DPMS 308 and Bushmaster 450BM
Carry: XD-40
Plink: Ruger 10-22 and AR15

I love my 450 Bushmaster, I was about to order a 6.8spc but Bushmaster had a sale on uppers and the price was to good not to pass up.

I bought my first handgun for the purpose of home defense. It was a Glock 22. I then got my CCP and realized that I need something smaller so I bought a Glock 27. I did this because I did not want to have to purchase ammo for more then one caliber. As time went on I realized that even the Glock 27 was too big to CC all the time. So obviously I purchased a Kel-Tec P3AT. Now I had a hand gun for every purpose, or did I  ? I eventually realized that ammo was not getting any cheaper and I could not afford to shoot my pistols all the time, much less find any ammo :fireleft: . This led me to the Browning Buckmark. Now life is complete :hysterical: .

why should i tell you? you won't get it. why do dogs chase their tails? why do cats like tuna? why is the sky blue? why do black lace garter belts itch? ( ok..skip that last one.. :hysterical: )

the better question would be when can I get my next one?

ok I'll say it, if nobody else will. Because having more firepower than the enemy is usually a winning strategy.

Thank you all for the great thoughts & input. I appreciate it. Tho - I've never looked at the wife as a tradeable commodity.

Well, we'll see what the actual number is and then go see what NOVA has. Well, other thanthe required 500 rounds of ammo per calibre owned. :clapping:

i own a room full of guns because the Constitution makes it legal, and the possibility of Zombies justifies it!! but really do you need an excuse? Just lie to your wife like the rest of us!

I have a use for each weapon that I have ( had before they sunk on a duck hunting trip in my boat) My M1A1 - M-14 I gave to my oldest son because I also had a AK-47 along with 10 Mags. and several thousand rds. of ammo he also got my S & W 645 in 45 acp along with several thousand rds. And my youngest son got my 1911 A-1 .45 ACP and several mags. and several hundred rds of ammo. I still have a ccw with my Walther PK380 and several hundred rds. of ammo that the boat did not eat.

Yep.

Caliber. Ammo availability. Target type.

All play a role.

There's no one tool, suitable for all jobs - That's reason enough for me. There's no feeling like a shed full of tools, and if I know how to sharpen them all (read reload), then it's all the sweeter. :drill:

I have a large safe and installed a dehumidifier. I've tried to convince Young that it will work more efficiently if there's less space in there...and no, she aint buyin it...but she tolerates it when I bring a new gun home...

For the record though, guns aren't like shoes. Holsters are like shoes. I have a drawer-full of holsters I hardly ever use, just like I have a closet full of shoes I hardly ever use. And when I do find something I like, I buy it in every color. :hysterical:

Now I've got hubby seriously mulling over a 1911. He's gotta catch up with my handgun count.

There's a nice collection here, inspired by Bloomberg:

I saw a bumper sticker on a truck one time that said "I spent most of my money on women and beer. The rest I just wasted." I kinda feel the same about my investment in firearms....

My goal is to have 1 handgun and 1 shotgun in every caliber/guage.

Its all good, but the most powerful weapon is the brain, we all have one. Some use theirs more efficiently than others.

When you get a 2 bore in a punt gun, let me know - I want to watch you shoot it!

Hell I don't know if there are that many people on this board that even have any idea what a punt gun is. I have never seen one fired but I would sure like to.
