You are legally allowed to carry a handgun at 18, so I can't see why Dominion would not allow you on the range. If they have a 21+ rule, I'm not familar with it.

I think they will, but buying handgun ammo is a 21 over affair(right?). You can buy ammo in advance and have them special seal it. Then you can come back open it and shoot it. Same with leftover ammo.

I believe that most indoor ranges don't allow high-powered rifles for a reason, as a ricochet from a 30-06 is probably more dangerous than a 9mm.

Rifles are usually forbidden in indoor ranges due to the backstop not being able to handle it. My understanding is that Dominion's backstop is very marginal, or at least it was - enough so that they only allowed their own downloaded ammo to be shot there.

My daughter, 19 at the time, asked about going there with a friend, also under 21. When I called to ask about it, and to see if I needed to go along (which I would have happily done ), that was what they recommended to me. She could shoot, but couldn't purchase the handgun ammo. So I would purchase the ammo from them ahead of time, get them to seal it with the special sticker, then she could go back later and shoot.

is it set up improperly? or what? RSO's?
were your friends injured or wounded? and if so, how was that handled by the range? did this occur at the same time? can you graph this out for me/us a little bit...

it is this kind of thing that gives the anti's pure kero to light a blaze with...and makes people familier with firearms raise an eyebrow and give the look...

Ranges are supposed to be controled environments in which to safetly practice shooting...anything else is called "live fire zone"...and it tends to decrease my interest level in attendance...

Sorry this took so long to reply. Somehow I missed it for umm... about three months. lol

One of them got hit in the shoulder, and the other in the hand. Luckily neither of them were hurt badly. They just had some welts to show off the next day.

I don't believe either of them reported it. They just shrugged it off as a freak accident. It wasn't until later when we were all talking about it that each of them realized it had happened to the other.

Last time I was shooting at an indoor range I had two ricochets. Since I was the only shooter, I could tell. One I saw coming back in the spot light, the other I heard hit some metal chairs. Both missed me and I found them later when sweeping up the brass. Definitely bullet fragments not whole bullets. Probably would have stung some if they hit me though. The range I was at uses a slanted metal backstop and I have heard that if you get a little lead build up or other irregularities on the steel plate ricochets are a little more common.
