If you have been insulted that much... please stay home next time.Gauchat wrote:So. This is a waste of time and money. Nearly everything was marked UP from normal retail pricing. Bulk ammo is cheaper at Cabelas. Having to pay admission to this was simlpy and plainly, insulting. I do not know when the change happened but this has turned into nothing short of a colossal waste of time.

Gauchat and ShortMan, you guys are right...
You went to the show looking to be disappointed and found disappointment...
I on the other hand found things that I didn't even remember I wanted until I saw them and found that a lady there had a Crimson Trace grip/ laser that I have been wanting for $100 below the recommended price from the manufacturer. I didn't have the money to buy one, but I did get her card...
I got to lay eyeballs on several rifles that I probably would never have seen in a local gun shop. I got to notice how many different shades of Flat Dark Earth were in the FN SCARs that were selling for $2250 and up. I couldn't believe the number of anti Obama bumper stickers I saw. I got to buy individual snap caps from a vendor instead of a 5 pack. Overall I thought I had a good day there, heck I even enjoyed being harassed by the Hooters girls to sign up for the door prize/ mailing list. Then again I am "Mister Happy Go Lucky"...

You just have to ask yourself, is he telling you the truth based on knowledge and experience or spreading internet myths?

Gun shows are fun to browse but I do most of my shopping online. All the things you cant do elsewhere are legal...I'm surrounded by loaded guns, beer, can smoke, and sit here scratching myself wearing only underwear while I shop...cheaper, funner, and I can find what I want and never leave the house...
No more catchy slogans for me...I am simply fed up...4...four...4...2+2...

I was at the show all three days - only for an hour or so on Friday and Saturday, but I worked the Nova Armament table all day Sunday. Picked up a couple of things (a can of 38 at Georgia Arms, some small ammo boxes so I don't have to lug the ammo can to the range, a book for a friend, and a First Aid bag for hubby to put together a backpacking first aid kit for Boy Scout trips). No luck on a holster for me newest acquisition, though.

Flat Dark Earth is apparently a very hard color to get consistent. You get good results, but different shades lot to lot. It isn't just FN having such troubles. If you want to do a FDE job, do everything in one batch.grumpyMSG wrote:[I got to notice how many different shades of Flat Dark Earth were in the FN SCARs that were selling for $2250 and up.

LOL.... I guess bargains are in the eyes of the beholder.
I picked up decent leather holster/belt for my Ruger N.Vaquero and got to try it on BEFORE I bought it without having to deal with a return. I picked up several additional ammo cans and a few pounds of powder I want to try out (that the LGS doesn't carry) without having to deal with HazMat shipping to my door. I got to browse around for an hour or two, checkout out a few pistols I'd not seen or handled before. Didn't see much "boolit casting" gear but no biggie. Didn't find any Ely .17M2 ammo but no biggie. Didn't find any replacement grips for my Vaquero but no biggie.
I did a bit of research on some potential (future) acquisitions and was recognized by a vendor or two that I've bought from in the past. I got there Sunday about 20 min after opening and payed my money and walked right in, no lines. For _me_ it was worth the $11 and 20 minute drive...
Cheers
