Thanks for the invite to hunt with you this June, I had forgoten that VA has a summer squirrel season, great idea, I'd like to do that.
And thanks for the advice on line test, I've not fished that lake before but it's reputation is well known. You are one lucky guy to only be 15min from it. I was thinking of using two set ups, a bait casting rod with either 65# braid on it or at least 20 mono. Not sure about the braid yet. And a medium-heavy spin casting rod with at least 12 pound test on it. Perhaps I should upgrade that to 17+ pounds. Maybe I'll bring a lighter spinning rig or two for bream and crappie.
I've heard about the trees, no wonder it is a great bass lake. I'll be back again a few times this year to fish it I'm sure. Didn't know it is stocked with Florida bass, that is very encouraging, those guys are monsters.
There is a small group of kayak bass fishermen coming down that weekend. You can check them out on:
http://www.kayakbassfishing.com/ . There are a lot of guys from VA there, some are local to your area I think. I'm also planning on a fishing trip to VA beach in May to go after some Red Drum and whatever bites then. That will be a blast.
I'm planing on leaving work a bit early on the afternoon of March 5th, Friday and driving down to meet my buddies to camp that night at Twin Lakes Park camp ground. We'll be the guys with the kayaks on our vehicles. Drop in for a visit and if you get there before me, just tell them that you're lookin for MikeVictor...or Mike Vance...my real name. I've never met these guys, this is my first trip with them. They are bass fishing fanatics from what I can see on that web site.
I"ll PM you my cell phone.
Thanks again, I'll take you up on that June offer to hunt on your place...
Mike
