After ABC News Report, Trijicon Announces Plan to Remove Bible Codes from Gun Sights Provided to U.S. Military
http://abcnews.go.com/Blotter/jesus-rif ... id=9618791
Trijicon, the gunsight maker that has imprinted Bible verse numbers on its scopes, has announced that it will no longer imprint the verses on the sides of scopes intended for the U.S. military, and will also provide clients with the kits to remove the Bible verse numbers from existing scopes.
An ABC News report earlier this week revealed that the Michigan-based company, which has a contract to provide up to 800,000 scopes to the U.S. military, prints references to New Testament chapters and verses in code next to the model numbers of its scopes. The scopes are used by the U.S. Marine Corps and Army in Iraq and Afghanistan, and by U.S. allies in those countries, and for the training of Afghan and Iraqi troops.
Earlier today, Gen. David Petraeus, who commands CentCom, which oversees U.S. forces in Iraq and Afghanistan, told a D.C. thinktank that the company's practice was "disturbing …and a serious concern for me" and field commanders. He said there had been considerable discussions within the Department of Defense about how to deal with Trijicon's practice.
Disturbing and a serious concern? How about he gets the motor pool to remove all the Jesus clips from his vehicle?

I don't like the picture or words Obama on my tv, will they keep him off so as I scroll channels I don't accidently cross one? Same goes for the paper or the radio? I do not believe in Obama so why should I even have to here his name? Will the White House send me an Obama remover?

I can;t figure out what this guy finds disturbing! Serious Concern?? There just numbers for crying out loud. Is this dipship so afraid of offending someone that even the numbers are a cause to go off the deep end.... If Trijicon had kept their business confidential there'd be no issue... But I guess 800,000 units at Government costs (inflated substantially for taxpayer use I'm sure ) would make any company step up and say whatever Uncle Sugar wants them to say..

Well this certainly endorses my opinion about Petraeus. I can say from experience that anything issued to our troops is examined, re-examined, tested, re-tested, re-examined, etc, etc, etc. All under a microscope. I honestly cannot believe that our military did not know about this beforehand. Somebody in DOD knew....

I'm pretty sure she's a Public Affairs Officer speaking for the Commanding General of the Marine Corps Systems Command at Quantico. "Marine Corps Systems Command (MARCORSYSCOM) is the Commandant of the Marine Corps’s agent for acquisition and sustainment of systems and equipment used to accomplish their warfighting mission. The command outfits United States Marines with literally everything they drive, shoot and wear."

Kurt,
Stop taking the anal pills. It was a retorical rant buddy. I don't really care who he or she is. The point is that the Corps is losing it's spine and becoming another PC organization.

LMAO! I believe the actual name is "e" clips but after you have had a few fly off God-knows-where as you exclaim "JESUS!"
As to the "Secret Codes", they weren't secret, they were there and plain to see from the start. All someone had to do was ask. Also, as others have pointed out, "In God We Trust" is printed on our money and the enemy has never seemed to have a problem with that. It is the normal Much ado about nothing and because we have fallen victim to this P.C. BS, we are where we are now.

12Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.
This is the verse on the sight in the news article. Looks like they could also be saying on a side note that with these sights you shall not walk in darkness but shall have the light of life. Either way its rediculas. They used to hand out camo Bibles for military going over seas.

Yeah and now they dont like to hand out Bibles since our troops headed downrange are going to a mulsim country where its frowned upon. I do understand however that some religious materials are allowed and there is a specific policy for our troops regarding this.

People need to get a life and focus on REAL ISSUES (like term limits on all appointed/elected federal offices:roll: ).
I'm agnostic and even I don't find these offensive. Maybe kinda sneaky of the manufacturer but also very subtle. Words (and numbers) are just that and only have power if you give it to something. I find the Trijicon one acually humorous with the 'light' reference.

well I can remember when the DOD was paying $ 600.00 for a screwdriver, so I guess they are paying a good deal for these sight systems....

So does this make the "scripture enhanced" versions more valuable?. It might be time to stock up.
Reminds me of the Japanese gun collectors that are always looking for weapons with the "mum" stamp.

Meadmkr Agreed!
Weather it is my corner of the religious pie or not (and it is not), I could care less if the manufactuer has their own markings and codes on an item, religious or otherwise. If the U.S. Miltary added them on after the fact, that would be one thing, but all thoughout history, makers of fine anything have marked thier products to show proof of origin, marks for QA, testing, finished prodcut, and year of manufacture, etc. Every barrel maker certainly does...
This is ridiculas issue to chase...and the fact that it is an issue that takes time and effrot from the real work of warfighting is a shame...

Mother of all Boogers !!!!!!!!!!!!!
I live with that for months after the test. We got to evaluate the videos and one of the guys had a great big wad of something he brought from home that looked like, well a great big 10 pound booger. That thing got slung around the office for weeks. Until one day - one of the generals stopped by to chat - and it fell off the ceiling. A good laugh was had by all once we explained what it was. Hey, it was a high stress environment...
