I'm sure there are many others besides Jim who are peeved that Chavez probably blew his chance at cozying up to obummer.

The thing about it is that I totally disagree with what Chavez said and I think he's a complete buffoon. I guess he doesn't understand that our military isn't just about killing people when necessary. They are also very useful when humanitarian needs arise. And especially in an area where looting and corruption and violence is bound to happen, it doesn't hurt to have an M-16 handy either.

Sure Fairfax and LA have their quick response teams, (operative word teams) but there IS no other organization that can put that many boots on the ground with logistics and the means to feed and supply themselves and the victims.

The US military ... Godspeed and God bless them. :friends:

Chavez actually scored a couple of points with his small statement.

He put the President of the United States in his place, publically.(you did notice that there was no response from the whitehouse)
He got a dig in on the US Military, and stirred the other countries anxiety over the relief effort, including ramping up the mistrust of the Haitians. Hugo knows that only America could do what has been done in Haiti, he also knows the impatience of the Haitian population. His comments fuel aggression towards our efforts and our troops.
Now Hugo is saying the USA actually CAUSED the earthquake while testing a secret weapon designed to create earthquakes to destroy Iran of all places...... This is the guy, the left embraces?.....

Why would the White House even stoop to answer a moronic statement by that buffoon Chavez. Why would anyone think there is a need to respond to everything this petty martinet says. You can't engage an idiot in a debate, so the White House's non-response was perfect.

Switching gears it was nice to see members taking on what Chavez had to say about our men and women in uniform. If anyone is going to bring overall order and needed aid in this unprecedented disaster, it's our military. The next time someone asks why do we need these Carrier groups. I think I'll just show them photos of the Carrier Vinson and what is now a flotilla of US Navy ships, including the Comfort just off the coast of Haiti, and say: When we say Carriers give us the capability to project power anywhere on the globe, we don't mean just combat power.

For a change it was heart warming to see the 82nd greeted with signs saying "Welcome to Haiti, stay as long as you like"! Maybe just maybe something good can emerge from the epic Haitian tragedy.

It's amazing GS78 did you ever hear of manners? Or do you want our President to be an uncouth, loudmouth dolt like Chavez? Can't you see that Chavez is the equivalent of the little twit who wants to act tough because he knows the big dog (Obama) is not going to stoop to his level? Bad manners is bad manners. It's stunning that you equate good manners with weakness. Actually rudeness is the weak man's imitation of strength. Chavez is a creep but you want our President to play little petty school yard games? When will you understand that Chavez and what he says means nothing to us. But to you that fool seems to be the big man on campus. So why don't you set us straight and tell us what the President should have done and said to the extended hand of Chavez?

If you read the quote correctly you just agreed that a lack of manners is a sign of weakness. Somehow I don't think you meant that. When in a situation that came close to a physical altercation the person with the biggest mouth was also the weak one. That's why our Pres can ignore the big mouthed Chavez because he is the loud mouth in the room. On the other hand people with good manners are confident, intelligent and not easily rattled. You see zephyp when you have the biggest sword in the room everyone can see it. Consequently there's no need to jump up and down to call attention to yourself.

Oh but I did agree. Lack of manners and rudeness is often used to try and compensate for weakness. Same thing goes for blaming others...

13. Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it. In conflict tactics there are certain rules that [should be regarded] as universalities. One is that the opposition must be singled out as the target and 'frozen.'...

"...any target can always say, 'Why do you center on me when there are others to blame as well?' When your 'freeze the target,' you disregard these [rational but distracting] arguments.... Then, as you zero in and freeze your target and carry out your attack, all the 'others' come out of the woodwork very soon. They become visible by their support of the target...'

"One acts decisively only in the conviction that all the angels are on one side and all the devils on the other." (pps.127-134)

I may be going out on a limb, jim, respectively, but I am guessing that you know my post never implied that I thought Obama would respond in any negative fashion to Chavez. I don't believe I ever stated that our president was uncouth either, in fact if you review some of my posts I think I may have said he was and is quite clever.(Skillful (or showing skill) in adapting means to ends)(Showing self-interest and shrewdness in dealing with others).
In my post I am not propping up Hugo chavez either, that is and has been done by leftists and communist sympathizers like danny glover, maxine waters and sean penn.

Our president on the other hand has shown his affection for communists too. I admit that statement in itself is shocking to some, but not to many in Obamas administration, in fact .....

President Obama regards Valerie Jarrett as "family" (read the article regarding President Obama and Valerie Jarrett) and runs every decision by her (read the article regarding President Obama and Valerie Jarrett.
Valerie Jarrett personally touted (watch Valerie Jarrett) and interviewed (read the article about Valerie Jarrett) Van Jones, vouching for him and boosting him into his position as Green Jobs czar while circumventing traditional vetting and verification procedures.
Valerie Jarrett lobbied for the Chief Diversity czar position inside the FCC, filled with Mark Lloyd.
Valerie Jarrett recruited Cass Sunstein into the administration.
Valerie Jarrett was introduced to Daniel Levin, who would bring her into Habitat, by Marilyn Katz, then an activist public affairs consultant and a close acquaintance of Jarrett's. But who is Marilyn Katz? Read the FrontPage Magazine article to learn about the New American Movement (NAM), the organization she founded from a remnant of the Weather Underground (Bill Ayres' terrorist organization) to promote socialist and Marxist revolution ideology.

This is Obamas'most trusted advisor......she sought out a openlt proud and devout COMMUNIST to work under this president. Thats just ONE example of many Jim, and respectively , you know it.

Birds of a feather jim, thats just the truth.

You know, I have to admit that sometimes I rush in on the attack, with my grease paint on...just right.... focusing on the target......until the moment of truth......and then it dawns on me......Jim, why didn't anyone ask Obama to comment on the "Boy" thing?

Insert any Legislator, from this country or any other in the capitalist world, or media talking head who might have said "boy," even in the same sentence as Obama, and they would have been crucified. The media would have made sure of it. Why not so much as a peep? any thoughts?

GS78a: Now you are just being silly with ludicrous attempts to paint President Obama as a communist, or a communist sympathizer. You can yell it to the house tops, repeat it in any and every post, and the allegations will still be crap, garbage, doo doo, baloney, rat crap. That dog won't ever hunt. Your posts are beginning to have a pathetic one note ring to them. The web sites peddling that garbage are filled with all kinds of ridiculous conspiracy theories that are just laughable and you use them for your proof? These are the birther sites, the Manchurian Candidate sites, Obama as a Jewish Communist plot, etc. The one constant, well there are actually two constants. They are all little fearful people, so afraid until they are suspicious of the water they drink and the air they breathe. I can't call them conservatives. I have no idea what ideology they follow other than be very afraid. The second thing they want is your money for bogus books and all manner of crap. Have fun peddling their junk if you like, but the public ain't buying. That train left the station long ago.

But for kicks let me engage in the same kind of foolishnish with the following idiocy. Using your definition and standards, Sarah Palin is anti-American and a socialist. After all her husband was a member of a political party founded by one who hated the United States, and wanted Alaska to become a State. As governor she took money from oil companies and distributed it to the citizens of Alaska most of whom did not work for it, a classic case of socialism in action. What does that make John McCain since he wanted an Anti-American as his Vice President. George Bush is an Osama Bin Laden enabler and terrorist sympathizer. The Bush family has a very long relationship with the Bin Laden family and the Saudi Royal Family. The Bushes had and have financial ties to Saudi Royal Princes, many of whom who funded and continue to fund Osama Bin Laden. You do remember that the Bin Ladens were the only ones allowed to fly out of the US on 9/11 don't you? President Ronald Reagan was a traitor for sending arms to our enemy (Iran) and paying terrorists in Lebanon to release hostages. Secretary Rumsfeld was a Saddam sympathizer. Less than a month after Saddam used nerve gas on thousands of Kurds, there was Rumsfeld in Baghdad telling Saddam what a great leader he was. When he was a CEO his company was doing business with Iran. Is this the kind of silliness you wish to engage in?

Now you want to start quoting Saul Alinsky as if that proves anything. It's just more inane silliness. Let me see people have read Attila the Hun for Leaders, Machiavelli, Mao's little Red Book, The Guerrilla's guide to marketing. Reading a book means what? Are you sure you actually read Saul Alinsky, or did you just draw a few talking points from some of the Fright Wing sites. The quotes you listed are the ones you always see. As usual you reduce another human being to a one dimensional caricature.

More importantly you claim to honor the Constitution. If that's true you should be defending Alinsky. Or are you only interested in 1st Amendment rights for those who think like you? I suspect that's so since you obviously detest community organizers. But wait! Actually you don't hate community organizers as a group. You just hate community organizers who organize any group you don't like. You belong to several basic communities. You belong to the NRA, gun owners community; Oath Keepers another community of like minded people; and several others. If you live in a planned community and participate in governing that's a community organization; The PTA is a community organization, and so are the Tea Baggers a community organization. So what's your problem with Saul Alinsky or any community organizer for that matter?

As a so-called Constitutionalist, if your heart is where you say it is, as much as you dislike ACORN, you should have leaped to defend them against arbitrary and capricious actions when ACORN itself has not been tried and convicted of anything. If the government can censure and take down ACORN without due process, they can do the same to you.
