I can attest that there IS that danger. I lost 3 rounds of good quality Remington ammo due to this practice each day, because I cleared and reloaded each morning. The top cartridge in the mag eventually got dented and the bullet FELL OUT and spewed smokeless powder all over my bed/car/closet.
I manned up and started carrying Condition One and now I don't have to clear/reload each day.
I would say, examine your practices and WHY you do them to eliminate as many of these loading operations as you can. If you carry in Condition One, why are you reloading?

Yup. My EDC gun comes out of the holster and goes right on the counter and then on to the nightstand. I do check it once per day just to make sure no ones messed with it. Its got a loaded chamber indicator or I can pull the slide back a wee bit to see the cartridge. Check the mag and I'm good to go.

I'm not sure what carrying in condition one has to do with how often you reload--are you suggesting that since you
carry in condition one that you maintain your weapon in that condition even when you're
not carrying it? If so, that seems a risky proposition to me. If not, then chambering a round each time you get ready to carry and clearing it each time you take it off would seem to suggest
more load/clear cycles when carrying in condition one than not. Clarify?
I'm not trashing one way or the other--I haven't had the opportunity to carry very much in any "condition," I'm just trying to understand your comment so I can better decide for myself. Thanks!

For the past 3 weeks, I have been Condition One constantly. Since the weapon is always in my possession, in a holster I know that it is not tampered with. I do not have to check it, cycle it...anything. The safest place for the weapon is your holster until you need to use it, right?

If you carry Cond. 1 and maintain control of the weapon, leave it holstered when you remove it from your body, and are sure that no-one will tamper with it when out of your sight, there is no reason to clear, reload, etc. Then there is no beating applied to the first round in the mag.
