Re: McAuliffe says he'll seek new gun restrictions in Virginia
Here's my idea, and I've been sending emails on this...
I have requested that D.C. annex Arlington, Alexandria, and Fairfax. Possible Prince William as well.
You do that? That's 1.2 million blue voters outta the Virginia voting pool.

True... but having NOVA annexed into DC or MD (while a great idea) will never happen. Due to a virus killing its host, it needs to spread to another healthy host in order to continue to survive.Reverenddel wrote:Here's my idea, and I've been sending emails on this...

Hello all.. I am not at my home pc and had to register again .. sorry its gregva. Sad day at the polls hope the recounts will win it for the gop. If the dems win the house dosnt the slim majority in the senate give a small check and balance to them passing anything they want?
Marc I would vote for you.
The problem is getting conservatives out to vote at the polls.

You are right on all counts. Conservatives just don't seem to turn out the numbers needed to win even though I think they are the numerical majority.
Last I looked at the voting results... VA is now officially a Blue State. It's going to be impossible to kill any bills they put out unless they get crushed in Committee. Once it hits the floor, its too late.

The reason why Conservatives won't turn out? Trust.
The Virginia GOP is one of the craptastically WORST organizations I've ever encountered. When I was inside of it, it was a matter of "Okay, it's X-Y-Z's turn to run, go ahead, and nominate him."
Bill Bolling is an example of that.
They do NOT like Vivrant exciting innovative Conservatives/Libertarians. They want the same old musty dusty jokes they have been putting in since the Johnson Admin...
Screw that... if the Libertarians could infiltrate them, and boots to asses... SOMETHING might happen!
But it ain't. An example is like VCDL's not going to the rolling membership is killing it's rolls. "Oh! We've always done it that way!" Um, a simple excel spreadsheet with date notifications ... Viola! The biggest member complaint gone. I know it's small, but it's what keeps people away.
Seriously. GOP needs to stop with their "We've always done it that way".
Sorry, long day, and I'm pissed off at everyone at the point.
Feeling like Cartman "SCREW YOU GUYS! AH'M GUIN HOME!" HAHHAHA

Marc, If you decide to run, I'll do whatever I can to help.
I would run, but I have problems expressing myself in English and my accent sucks.
The today situation reminds me of a post I put here couple years back: http://vagunforum.net/general-discussio ... ml#p142457

I appreciate the support. I'll give it some time and see if I want to do it. I'm going to do a bit of research too. See how the world works. I have two friends that are in politics... I am going to see if I can leverage them for a peek behind the curtain.
Re: McAuliffe says he'll seek new gun restrictions in Virginia
Getting voters to the polls is more of a GOP problem than Donkey problem.
The obvious, cause the majority of GOP voters are at work only explains part of the cause. The real issue is.... Democrats are more loyal to their party. For the most part, the current HRC stuff aside, Dems will vote Dem no matter what. It doesn't matter how much corruption is exposed, how much BS, how much flat out lies, economic collapse, etc. The Dems have a much stronger "lock" on their voting base, & they show up when told to.
You're average GOP voter isn't always enamored with the GOP. Most of the time we vote against the Dem candidate. If a GOP candidate bothers us.... were not going to vote for the Dem, we just don't vote at all. (fwiw I voted). Dems generally do not adopt this line of thinking. They vote blue no matter what. I believe that makes up a pretty large portion of the Blue voters.
The other significant hurdle to overcome, sadly.... it's the benefits. It really is. I live in a pretty rural part of VA. I know MULTIPLE people... a couple I might even call friends who receive a ton of benefits from the state. Whether it's EBT, free med insurance, & the epidemic of SSI fraud. One in particular, is adamantly against some hot button issues VA Dems are for. I've been down the list with him... but he votes Blue every time. He won't say why but, I'd bet every dollar in my pocket it's because he believes VA Dems will keep the benefits coming, & that the GOP would hurt his lifestyle, regardless of how bad Dems hurt VA. He isn't alone....
Tough sale to get people on the dole to change what's working for em. Plenty of em think Conservative but, vote Dem because it's financially better for them, or so they perceive.
I looked up the results in my precinct. 175 Gillespie 32 Northam 1 write in. I could name 10 of the Northam voters easily. Every single one of em believe conservative but vote Dem.....
btw.... would love to see Fairfax, Arlington, Alexandria annexed. Prince William too. Looking at the totals from 2016... HRC's margin in VA was Arlington & Fairfax alone.

Re: McAuliffe says he'll seek new gun restrictions in Virginia
Republicans are down 49 seats to 48 this morning, but they hold razor thin margins in the remaining 3 races. There is a chance that they win all 3 and keep a 51-49 margin which could avert certain disaster.
