Found with a pillow over his head, the investigation into his death was conducted over the telephone with no autopsy, and he was rushed out the door to be embalmed before anyone could look into what happened to him.

Nope, nothing suspicious about this at all.

I had my tin foil hat on, right from the get go. These days, I reckon that it's standard attire for me.

What worries me is motive. Sure, there's the obvious; get another left leaning judge in place. But, any replacement nomination by His Majesty is likely going to get blocked, and a Republican victory in November would probably negate the effort.

So, what's coming up that Scalia would have ruined?

There are cases pending for abortion, immigration, gay rights. You know, the usual leftist agenda smorgasbord.

Does anyone doubt that their will be Second Amendment cases coming soon?

Hard to justify a shady death over gay rights or abortion, I would think. Immigration seems a little more feasible, as that equates to votes.

2A is a likely motive, though. But, I would think that it would have to be something a little more substantial than magazine capacities, or choice of rifle furniture.

What case is coming up, dealing with a subject so substantial that they can't wait for a 79 year old man to pass naturally? That's the question that keeps me from going into full on conspiracy mode.

I don't know, the guy was likely to cash in his chips at some point any way. But I will say this, Clarence Thomas probably shouldn't be going on any hunting or camping trips without someone to watch his back.

Indeed.

Either way, the most we can really do is observe and speculate. I don't much like most of what I observe, but it's out of my control. It's going to be what it will be, and I'm not going to stress about it. I will do my part by casting the best educated votes that I can, and by winning any hearts and minds that I can, but that's about all I can do. Well, that and pray, anyway.

While I can easily buy into some conspiracy theories.... it's not that odd for a nearly 80 yr old man, especially an overweight one, to pass in his sleep. I find the death of say, Andrew Breitbart much more suspicious than that of Scalia.

Definitely sucks as Scalia was a Stonewall for the 2A, & the constitution in general. I read a quote of his earlier that said something to the effect of, "The constitution is NOT a living organism. It is a legal document, & it says what it says, & doesn't say, what it doesn't."

This could really hurt all of us depending how it plays out. No doubt O will appoint another liberal anti-what it says, judge. There's I believe 24 republican senate seats up for re-election in November & only 8 Dem controlled seats.

I bet Ginsberg ain't around much longer either. Hope she makes it till next year at least..!!

Yes, Scalia was an old man, and judging from his pictures online, he seemed a rather large man. So, a death from natural causes is very plausible.

The proverbial tinfoil hat is a permanent fixture upon my head, these days, so I will speculate on the conspiracy theories. And, from where we sit, that's all we can really do; speculate.

I'll entertain pretty much any conspiracy theory. I drive 10+ hours a day. That gives me a lot of time to think, lol. (Btw, just because I entertain a theory, that doesn't mean I buy the theory. It just means that I give it some thought. )

And guess who won't be attending Scalia's funeral? There must be a conflict with his weekend golf game.

He's just a scumbag of the worst caliber. A lot of old hateful thoughts and feelings have started bubbling back to the surface over the last 7 years. I thought I had squashed all that. :yeahright:

“The president has said that he is not always as sensitive as he should be on optics,” one reporter asked Earnest during Wednesday’s press briefing. “Can you rule out that he’s going golfing on Saturday instead of the funeral?” “I don’t have a sense of what the president’s plans are for Saturday,” Earnest began in reply.

I would prefer him golfing. It's one less day he can use his pen and his phone and the funeral attendants are already going through enough grief without his presence adding to it.
