Has anyone tried #8 or equivalent against sheetrock?

I'm a newbie, but the analogy with the muzzle energy doesn't compute for me. Each pellet (say 40) doesn't have 1300lbs of energy behind it, but 1/40th, at best, so the equivalent of 1300/40 = 32ft/lbs each. Individually, I'd be surprised if they'd pass through more than 1 layer and would seem pretty safe. To Huntington's point, some would group together and perhaps penetrate further in the center, but I'm not convinced that even two sequenced would go through (2) 3/4" walls.

if it won't penetrate drywall, then it won't penetrate bad-guy far enough to matter right now.

There are places in my home that I could, conceivably, want to penetrate two layers of drywall and still have sufficient energy for effectiveness.

Enjoyed the video , Thanks Marc ! I do like shotguns for home defense . Carol and I both keep a Judge loaded with 5-000 Buck Shot each within close reach at night. Also close by is my 12 ga. 870 with 9-2 3/4" #4 Buck Shot rds. And Carol's 20 ga. 870 with 8 - # 1 Buck Shot. I also keep my Taurus .40 cal. handy that I like to shoot at 5 to 7 yards. I hope we never need to use them for defense but , these days you just don't know!

What about splitting the difference with heavier goose loads?
