Outside of pulling the slide of the receiver and pulling the barrel to clean it, I haven't taken anything else apart. Without measuring tools, all of the upper parts look correctly assembled and machined.
This is my first striker fire pistol since my Colt All American 2000 9mm back in 1992. I'm not too sure about the firing group in the receiver. I think it looks okay, but can't say with 100% certainty.
Jeff82 wrote:Are these jams possibly being caused by a bad mag? Have you been able to trace the problems to a particular mag? (number them)
I have 6 mags and it has happened with all of them. It has happened with a variety of ammo brands and type. The only consistency is, it acts up when it gets dirty... maybe a few hundred rounds.
Jeff82 wrote:As a mechanical design it is built to operate (with the proper ammo). With as many out there as there are that are working and yours not being significantly different, there is something out of "kilter". Glocks are one of the most reliable pistols on the planet. That can't be disputed. We gotta figure this out.
I almost wonder if tolerances are too tight and it just needs to be worn in. After all... its only when its dirty.

This is why I like revolvers. As long as the timing is right, and the parts that are supposed to move do, and those that aren't don't, you should be good. Granted, you're typically going to be limited to 5 or 6 shots, but that's just encouragement to improve your aim.

Very surprised to hear that you're having problems with your Glock. I don't clean mine that often, and it takes several thousand rounds before they get dirty enough that I start having problems. Out of about 30 magazines I've accumulated, the only one I have problems with is a FTF the last round on one particular magazine that I've had for 20 years or so. Otherwise they run very, very reliably.
Hopefully it's just a minor thing. I recently bought a S&W Shield. I tried to field strip it, but I couldn't fully turn the take down lever. Turns out one of the pins was not pushed all the way through and was blocking the lever. Once I figured it out, simple to fix. Maybe it's the same situation with your gun.

That would be nice. I like simple fixes. I haven't been very motivated to do anything with it. Mostly working too much.

Glock slide take down is easy-peasy. Many vids on YouTube to see how to do it. Receiver is a little more involved but is still easy. It's like riding a bike, once you've done it you'll know it forever.

I took the Glock to the range today. I actually shot 300 rounds of 300BO, 300 .40 S&W, and 300 rounds of 9mm through the Glock. I was pretty beat when I left.
The G17 was spotless when I got there, and greased/oiled per spects. I ran the whole 300 rounds through it while practicing draw from the hip and fire as many times as I could on paper before the target edged (3 second face time). I spent the rounds pretty fast. Full mags gone in about 30 - 40 seconds.
The gun got hot and dirty fast... But zero problems. I'm going to run another 300 rounds through it the same way, next time I go. No cleaning and no fresh lube. If it works with no jams or problems, I'll fee much better about it and I will start using it more.
When I first bought it, it shot 3" low and 3" left. But while shooting a few hundred rounds through it, I slowly watched the shot group move closer to the point of aim, until it hit the point of aim. I'm hoping that the jam issue is like the accuracy issue and resolves with use as parts wear in.

glad to hear things might work out.
Have you noticed the grip angle difference between the glock and your sig?

I have. The Glock seems more comfortable to roll into and hold level. I also like the low bore axis a lot better. Makes managing recoil for rapid follow-up much easier.
I was impressed with myself after being able to drop 7 rounds in a target from a draw with a 3 second presentation time. I would never be able to pull the off with the SIG. Well... not while having all the shots being on target anyway. LOL

Glad to here it went well.
Don't take this the wrong way but could it have been possible you were previously letting the gun absorb to much of the recoil being used to the heavier Sig?

I wouldn't take anything off the table as possible. But is was a feed problem after hundreds of rounds. The SIG is the heaviest pistol I ever owned. I started with polys. I would think recoil management (or lack thereof) would lead to accuracy issues, not feed problems, no?

"Limp wristing" as they call it could led to feed and jamming issues since the inertia from the slide is not able to do what it is supposed to.

ah... got you. Well.. as I mentioned, I don't think so, but I wouldn't say its impossible. Most of the time, an observer who knows what they are looking at would find the issues faster than the shooter.

Glad to hear it's working out! A lot of people find out Glock are easier to use than other pistols.

I really love the low bore axis. Makes it so much easier to manage recoil. For future purchases, I'll have to pay closer attention to that spec.

So, it's been a little over a month. Any verdict(s) worth mentioning? Explain some of the experiences you've been having with your Glock. I'm curious to see how it played out.
I own a Glock 19 and have never had an issue with it - hopefully all of your issues have righted themselves.

I'm curious as well. I've had my Glock 26 since 2004 and never, and I mean never had a single malfunction with it. I also carry my gen 4 Glock 19 daily and I've had over 2K problem free rounds through it.

Things are going well. Since the last malfunction, I have run 400 rounds through it on top of the 300 mentioned earlier in this thread. No problems popped up and targeting has been spot on. I've been talking to the shop I bought it from about it, so the guys at my LGS have been teasing me. Every time I show up, they show me a new Glock I should buy. LOL The latest is the G43.
My confidence has been restored to the point that I have been carrying it daily for the last few weeks, which, that actually gave me time to get my SIG decked out. Now that shoot like a champ too.
What I decided to do is, carry the G17 during the warmer months since its much lighter than the SIG. I keep the Tac light on the P226 for home defense or if I plan to OC at night. Then, once we get about mid way into fall and I start wearing layers again, I'll start using the P226 daily and put the light on the G17 for home defense.

Yea. I'm pretty bummed. I'm going to replace it with a VP9.
