Went up to BRA tonight to shoot IDPA and had the pleasure of meeting Gregj finally. We have been talking about I shoot at this time and he shoots at that time and we have just been missing each other here and there for months.
I enjoyed the opportunity to chat with you and to shoot with you this evening. Looking forward to shooting with you again in the future.
P.S. the courses tonight were a blast. If any one is even remotely interested in this super fun way of shooting, you really owe it to yourself to check into it. You will not be sorry.

Had the pleasure of finally meeting Andy (BlueTiki) and his Dad (James), and shooting with Andy. Hopefully his dad will be shooting as well next time. As Andy said, BRA had some pretty interesting and challenging stages, they were a blast! If you want to have a good time, and learn a few things, come on out. BRA is first wed of the month, and SEG (Silver Eagle Group) is first monday of the month.

Not nice people. I went there twice. Both times, they seemed to have an attitude of "we can kick your butt if we want, ha ha." And I don't mean the "hey, we're enforcing the rules of safety" firmness. I could handle that. I mean they looked like they're proactively looking for some reason to pick a fight. If the folks at the NRA range now take the "we don't need you" attitude, the folks at BRA take the "we want to fight you" attitude. And no, it's not appropriate.
There are other options, fortunately.

Not sure why CoyboyT had the two bad experiences. I've always been treated quite well.
The best part of BRA for me is that a senior membership is only $140/year, with open range use and some other benefits. This is cheaper than any other place in the whole area, so long as you go the range an hour a month or more...which you should! And the more you go, the cheaper it is by comparison. i like that pressure to go...

I just now noticed that. LOL

Well played, tursiops. Very well played.

Had the day off, went to BRA to try out my TCP I just got back from Miami (FTEs, new ejector).
While I was shooting, the RSO came over and told me the freezer in their lounge had ice cream and Popsicles for the customers.
Yes, it was hot on the range.
Yes, the TCP worked flawlessly (PMC, WWB).
Yes, the Popsicle was terrific.
Pretty enjoyable experience, all together.

I have truly never had a bad experience at Blue Ridge. Not sure what it was that made you feel like they were threatening you CowboyT.
Do any of you remember the tv show Cheers? If you do, you will remember the guy that always sat at the end of the bar, Norm. When ever Norm came into the bar they all greeted him by calling out in unison, "NORM!" That is almost the way I feel when I go up to Blue Ridge. I know the analogy is a little over the top, but I do feel welcome when I go.

Just got back from my run, and even this late, the humidity around here is nasty. A Popsicle sounds good. I bet if I strap on my AR and pistol and start running now, I'll be there by opening time.

I just went out to Blue Ridge last night to give the new Blackwater Tactical a spin. While I was there I was chatting with the guys at the counter.
They informed me that the owners have approved plans for renovations to start on July 1st. This will include new air handlers for both ranges.
Not sure what else it will include but new air handlers will be very welcomed!!!!

OMG!!! About time! The IDPA match on wed was like a fickin sauna! I went over to the rifle range to put my gear up, and the smoke was so thick it was like a fog. New air handlers will be a BIG improvement there.

When is the next IDPA? The main reason for the new Sig is for IDPA. I'd really stopped shooting almost all together for a few months till this came in. I've not shot IDPA since before Chirstmas.

There is an IDPA two-gun (carbine/pistol) match on June 30. The next regular IDPA match is July 14.

^^^ What he said ^^^ The slots are probably all filled for the 2-gun by now, I think there was only one slot left when I signed up at the last match. Good luck getting signed up for the 14th. If there are no slots, you might show up anyway. Sometimes they'll let someone squeeze into a squad, or maybe there will be a no-show.

Are you and Andy shooting on the 14th and if so, what time slots?
I'll see what I can do about getting in on that one. I will not be participating in the two gun match as I don't have a carbine.

I'm in the 6:00 slot on 7/14. Hope you can make it.

I normally do the 6, but since Greg has been making me look like a fool I've moved to the 7pm slot. Actually, I couldn't get a 6pm slot, so you should probably register ASAP.

Good Two-gun match last night at Blue Ridge. I like that the IDPA club is trying to expand the types of matches. More shooting == more fun!
And it is good that the coming renovations to Blue Ridge will not be shutting down the range or the IDPA matches.
My only real problem is that I now need to buy an AR-15. But I guess some problems are good to have.

It was indeed a fun match. Very challenging, trying to keep things straight mentally was tough. I learned several things that I need to work on.
Looking forward to the next match.

Have they announced another two-gun match there yet? I missed out on the June one.
BTW, BRA was where I bought my second gun, a S&W 1076. Wish I still had it. That place has been up and down since I started handgun shooting (1990).
