Just because one can do something doesn't mean they should.
If a severely disabled person lost control of their wheelchair and rolled into your car scratching it, would you
really drag them to small claims court for the cost of having the scratch fixed?

Exactly! Sometimes? The right thing isn't what you can do, but what you DON'T do...

You know what he said about the Sea stories is absolutely pinpoint accurate. Honestly, I believe J.V. story where I draw the line is I think he should have dropped it after CK death.
I have met both men and I can't say Chris's story is false but I can say that a service member exaggerating a story is not out of the ordinary. His death, while tragic, is not a white blanket that makes all past indiscretions miraculous Truths. The same goes for everyone.
My heart goes out to his family but if he did lie, I have no problem with the truth coming out. I also think that JV is a worthless sack of conspiracy poop for pursuing the matter after CK's death. A bigger man would have just accepted it for what it was, swallowed his pride and forgave the man who lied about him. If indeed it was a lie and JV's telling the truth.
I think JV's is such a bitter man that he wanted to use the Truth to hurt the people who hurt and insulted him.

From what I heard in the past day, there were several eye-witnesses who say they saw it happen exactly as Kyle wrote. Second-hand speculations from a couple of limp-wristed writers for left-wing magazines don't impress me at all - and I'm surprised you would use such as authorities in the debate.

..now I'm curious to see what the 11 eyewitnesses said happened in the bar fight. I didn't know about them. Does anyone know if/when the court transcripts would be released?
..I can't believe I'm even getting caught up in reading about this. It's like a soap opera. Glenn Beck says that it is the wife herself that has to pay this money. Is that true or is it an Insurance company that has to pay it out?

I personally do not care either way, but just because Kyle is dead means nothing to me as far as a lawsuit goes. His widow is still rich, the book netted him about 15 million according to reports.
I am all about
rights no matter who it pisses off, sometimes that is not a popular viewpoint to have.

It means Kyle could not defend himself in court. JV sued a person who was not there for something that was not in a book but rather was in a radio interview. That he filed the suit where he did tells me a good deal.

All of the proceeds from the book went to charity. The only money his family has is in a trust fund established by Glenn Beck and Mercury One after they raised $800k in a fund raiser.
