Just throwing out an option, which will also help anyone who is using a mifi / cellular connection. If the MiFi device supports an external antenna, you can mount a small antenna on the boom of a dish, like the disk network and other satellite TV providers use. These can be found, and generally had for free from people who had it, then moved to a different provider. Point the dish with the new antenna in the direction of the nearest tower, and you should see a significant increase in signal strength. If you have a buddy, neighbor within say 15-20 miles, who has either cable or fiber, and will let you pay a portion of their bill for use of data, the same type of setup at both ends, dishes pointed in the direction of the other, until you have a solid signal on your end, this will work. A buddy of mine, and myself did a test using this method, and were able to create a 20 mile link at full speed of the wireless cards we were using, just to see if we could.
Just a thought,
Casey
P.S. this works form weak cell signals too, check you tube for tons of video instructions on how to set something like this up. I too plan on moving farther out, and must have a decent internet connection for my work.

2-way services are better than they were, but still bad. Worse than bad DSL. High latency. Fine for browsing static content, but not for Skype or any multi-media apps.
