My best guess would be that it's weighted forward and un-rifled. The rings shift in and out on cams, much like 'actuated' piston rings, creating low pressure areas in the direction the little sucker wants to fly. I found some old Wilkins Coffee commercials, one of which had a character "cutting on" an electric chair. Forum appropriate, there were guns in several of those ads.
