The thing about female ferrets in unconsummated heat dying is true; when they go into estrus the hormones continue to build up until their bone marrow fails, killing hem from aplastic anemia.

If you ever get a female ferret as a pet (they're called jills) they must be spayed unless you're breeding.

Shark birth varies by species. At the time that this list was written it was probably still thought that whale sharks deposited eggs.

Something similar is true of rabbits.
My daughter just lost her momma rabbit to ovarian cancer that was said to be due to not being spayed or bred.
