Once more? Did Toby Keith sell his name to the establishment, and it's run by another corporation, or does he personally OWN the chain?

I'm no where NEAR the place, so my give a crap level is low, but still... more curious than anything.
That's exactly what first entered my mind.
Is that particular restaurant owned by Toby or is it a franchise?
If it is a franchise I doubt that Toby can do much about the CPZ (Criminal Protection Zone) signs.

There's no need to really look for the sign at this TK as it's quite blatantly part of the glass entrance doors. I think I saw more than one sign too when I was at Potomac Town Center yesterday.

I wonder if that's a new thing? I've been to the Toby Keith's "I love this bar" and grill in Foxboro, MA (next to my old Bass Pro) MANY times and there is no gun buster sign up over their, Signs have no force of law there and MA doesn't tell people they can't drink while concealed so you'd think they'd have one there if anywhere!

Let the Boycott begin!

I saw huffpost has even ran a few stories about it. So it's gaining national attention. Should be interesting to watch.

I never go to Woodbridge anyway, so let them be gun free if they want. There are plenty of restaurants where I live that have never said a word to me about my gun. :coffee:

1) Again, who the **** is Toby Keith? I'm aware I could Google it, but why bother?

2) Chain restaurant food almost always sucks.

3) Your arteries will thank you for skipping it.

4) Your wallet will thank you for avoiding the 450% mark up.

5) Guns should be a minor factor in your decision to avoid such a place.

Kreutz:

1) Toby Keith is a football player turned country musician. He is known for such hits as "Red Solo Cup" and some songs that I can't remember the names of. He was the one that decided the putting a boot up the @$$ of your opponent was the American way. He is also known for blasting the Dixie Chicks when the said that they were ashamed of GW over seas.

2) Yep. But, it is, at least, predictable.

3) I should probably start taking such things into consideration.

4) Yup.

5) That depends on your priorities.

Supposedly, he is NOT the owner... but just signed off on the usage...

AKA', He's a Tool now.

He's always been a tool! LOL

Kreutz, I don't care if its a restaurant, a mall, a movie theater, a church or grocery store... I don't go anywhere that openly advertises that there is a large gathering of unarmed victims with money in a small confined space.

My absolute top priority in life is to continue to live and in good health for as long as possible. Every choice I make about everything starts there. If it gets disqualified due to risk of injury or loss of life, none of the other risks or benefits matter.

According to this article:
http://nation.time.com/2013/12/29/toby- ... gers-fans/

Toby Keith doesn't own this restaurant at all.
And the no guns policy is due to Virginia insurance regulations.

Yes, but he licenses his name. If my good name was on something, I'd be d@mn sure that it had policies that I agreed with.

I don't buy that. If it were just about insurance, then every restaurant would prohibit guns. It's too convenient to blame the big bad insurance company.

It is our desire to provided a safe, enjoyable and entertaining experience for our patrons and staff.
I guess they donunderstand that they have accomplished the exact opposite. They should hand a Department of Homeland Security that says "Hey bad guys, come rob us! No one will stop you!"

(shrugs) It was an interesting article when they couldn't find anyone AGAINST the policy in the restaurant, and summed it up by stating "...those that are against the policy are boycotting the place." Adding "...but there was still a 20 minute wait for a table for lunch."

And? Think if gunowners DID go there! that's an HOUR wait, with a steady stream of people!

Folks wanna think that not going to a location has this reason, or that reason... but ask, why is Darden Restaurants selling off Red Lobster? Why are they looking at bringing people into Olive Garden with specials?

When you piss off gun owners, we WILL avoid you. Promise. If Starbucks hadn't backed off, I'm sure they would be fine, but "same store numbers" would be dramatically lower in rural/"red" counties.

There are a plethora of places I will NOT eat, even if I love the food.

Hello Marcspaz,
While we understand and respect every person’s right to own and bear arms, we at Toby Keith’s I Love This Bar and Grill, with guidance from the local and state laws and based on insurance regulations, have adopted a no weapons policy. It is our desire to provide a safe, enjoyable and entertaining experience for our patrons and staff.
Warm Regards,
Tawnya Lively

I wouldn't completely rule out the possibility that an insurer might condition liability and/or casualty insurance coverage for a restaurant & bar on a gun ban by the operator - or perhaps offer a discounted rate. I know for sure that some companies offer around a 5% discount on worker's comp rates if the employer will institute pre-employment and random drug testing of employees. If they think it will lower their risk of loss, they'll try to make it happen. That said, I've never had it come up with respect to firearms possession. Never even been asked about what company policy was on this. So I also tend to doubt that "insurance regulations" are to blame.

I can tell you as the owner of multiple businesses in my life, firearms never came up as a point in insurance. That includes in my retail store fronts.

I mentioned to an insurance broker that we keep weapons in the stores for personal defense. I said "will this affect my rate at all?" The broker said, "only if the criminal lives. Dead people can't sue you." LOL

Broker was true to his quote. May rate didn't change after hearing we had weapons in the store for employees to use to defend themselves. How could my customers affect my rates?

I agree, I got into a discussion about this with a professional insurance agent at the local gun club some time back and he told me that CHL status, gun ownership, and allowing people to legally carry in a business have absolutely no effect upon insurance rates.
Apparently there is no actuarial data that indicate that these things are an insurance risk.

And if people think I'm a numbers nut, they've never met an insurance actuary.
