Number 1 problem is recoil, about 15 years ago she would shoot with me and a 45 was not to bad then, Today differant story. I tried to get her to shoot withe ladies Sat. but she said she was not up to it and I understood. Her gf did shoot and really enjoyed it. Matter of fact she liked the G30 herself. But I'll give her time and she'll find what fits her, more than likely a 380. I'm not going to rush her.Virginia2AM wrote:catch up to what I said: keep in mind that if she likes the ergonomics of the firearm, but trigger pull is too hard - or vice versa -- she likes how it shoots but not how it sits in her hand - ask store clerk and/or gunsmith if you can make adjustments

I haven't read this whole thread but has anybody mentioned a 9x18 Makarov? I don't personally own one but the ones I've used seem pretty manageable compared to 9mm parabellums. Just a thought.

Good point. Ergonomics was the main concern for my wife. I bet she held just about every make of handgun at the Richmond gunshow.Virginia2AM wrote:catch up to what I said: keep in mind that if she likes the ergonomics of the firearm, but trigger pull is too hard - or vice versa -- she likes how it shoots but not how it sits in her hand - ask store clerk and/or gunsmith if you can make adjustments
Re: Ladies firearm question for men and women
I have been trying to convince my wife to go down to the Bersa .380 (even tried, isn't it pretty)....but she loves the Colt 1991A1 compact...she said the recoil is less then the Glock 22 that I had and did not like the recoil on the 23 at all. She said the weight of the gun and size where perfect for her...she is 5'2" and not exactly petite....
so, maybe try a different .45, one with a little heft to it...who knows...

Re: Ladies firearm question for men and women
My wife had the same issue, she finally settled on a .32 SW Revolver. While the .32 will not have the knock down
power of the .45, chances are if it has to be used, the shot will be a close shot, and with the right load just as lethal.
The .32 is also lighter for CC. I personally would not recommend going less then .32, 380 would be better if she can
handle the recoil.
