It is the first time I saw this thread.

This is not a commitment, but...
I like the idea, but I am a fan of keeping it simple.
I don't need a tshirt.
I don't really don't want to do food assignments. BYO works really well when you don't know for sure who will make it.

I have some options when it comes to camping.
Is this place good for Hammocks?
My solo-tent is a little small.
I could also sleep in the back of my vehicle, but...

Nice to have shirts or tags or something. There are a lot of other shooters up there, nice to know who's there for the meet and greet and put usernames to faces. Definitely plenty of places for a hammock, I did a hammock last year worked well.

I am up for it. Had a good time out there last year. Wish it was closer, 160 miles sounds close compared to 365, but it is still a hike. One worth making at least once a year though!

Yeap there is some gravel on it but there is also a couple of good ruts that a car might get hung in.

I hope I can get a jeep between now and then. No way my Mustang is making it if there is anything but asphalt or traditional concrete.

Yeah I doubt you make it far. My cousin's mustang won't make it over a speed bump without going at it sideways. :hysterical: I refuse to lower my A4 because I know that I'll have the same problem.

Don't worry about whether or not you have a high clearance vehicle or not there will be plenty of us with trucks and happy to give rides I'm sure. There were a few cars that made it up there, it's more about driving smart than having a big vehicle.

Honestly, I wouldn't lower an A4 anyway. The suspension on those cars are amazing. I would think changing the geometry and center of gravity while keeping that level of performance would be pretty expensive.

I have to buy another tent too. I used to have a nice 12 man that was like a house, but I gave it away because I was sick of carrying it. the thing weighed 30 lbs when it was all bagged up. LOL

The road to the Range is probably as good as it is going to get. The last time we were there a guy made it up to the Range in a Geo Metro!

LOL!

Except for the engine and the body, by the time we meet up, there won't be many stock parts left on it. I already have suspension, transmission, and front/rear end parts on order. Should all be here by Christmas!

My brother in law bought one just before Thanksgiving...Very Nice , you will enjoy it. Now he is in the process of installing all the "Goodies" ...I mean the "Necessities " to make it complete ! I told him the first thing he should add is a Winch , but I think he is going mainly for the BLING items. :tank:

Oh yea, a winch in needed for any serious off-roader. They make a new mount now so we don't have to replace or drill the stock bumper. Pretty cool. It's good for 22,000 lbs., so I figure the 11,000 lbs Warren should do the trick.

Here are some photos of my son Nicholas's jeep. His is stationed down at Ft. Bragg and loves taking it off road any chance he gets.

This is the latest mods Nicholas has made to his jeep with the winch and the light bar.

It is looking and running really sweet.
Nicholas has built it for crawling and can pull the pins on the front suspension so the wheels can flex.

Every now and then, I consider a Jeep. I wouldn't mind an old CJ; minimal electronics, carb, made of metal.
