A lie is a bit strong, perhaps a misrepresentation by exploiting biases is a better way of stating it. E.g. Affordable Care Act has nothing to do with being affordable, nor is it going to provide "care" better than the existing system. I could give many examples, but you get the point. Within their context, the numbers a computed correctly or the statements are valid, it's just that they change what they are computing in order to manipulate the intended audience. E.g. raising the debt ceiling doesn't raise the debt. Technically true, but highly manipulative of the intended audience and ignores the fact that the debt ceiling is needed to be raised in order to increase the debt; otherwise why are they asking for its increase? Same with how they play with debt, deficit, and reductions in the rate of growth are spending cuts rather than smaller spending increases.Remek wrote:On the flip side, i am well aware of the underreporting of unemployed, but nothing specific but allegations on every govt medical service around.
In short, they're playing everyone for fools and guess what, it works. I'll leave you to philosophize why it works.
