When something sounds good on social media but doesn't quite carry over into real life.

In the trucker's defense, most have loads to haul and bills to pay. Not to mention who's going to foot that fuel bill. In spite of the turnout, the rebellious American spirit was strong on this one.

Let's hope it carries on.

Weekend ain't over yet.

Most of us have better sense than to burn $4/gal fuel in a vehicle that would average about 9mpg, tops, to attempt to make a point to men who we know won't be be listening and don't rightly care, anyway.

And to protest high fuel costs? Silliness.

Truth be told, I suspect that many of the drivers that wanted to show, and didn't, didn't show because they don't want their logs examined, and they really don't want their rigs to be thoroughly inspected.

Yep. I can think of more reasons for a trucker to avoid a trucker protest than I can to attend one, actually.

I wouldnt sling poop on a trucker who showed. At least they are doing something to make clear they are not happy. Its easy to poo poo any idea, it takes guts to make a stand and do something publically.

I am 100% behind them for standing up and doing something, even if only a few show and its not effective.

I'm not slinging anything at drivers who show. Let them show. This concept is better than the occupy movement, and the ones who show plan to leave at the end of the weekend.

But, really, look at what our emperor has done, and what congress has allowed, to inconvenience citizens. What do they really care if the beltway is tied up for the weekend? And, the weekend? It would make a much better statement to pull that stunt during the week.

But, truckers have responsibilities just like other men. Most of us can't afford the luxuries that the young liberal college students can. Any sort of harassment from law enforcement could have a severe and negative impact on our employment status.

But, those who choose to throw caution to the wind and show up, let 'em. More power to them.
