I'm gonna keep working to pay my taxes, because unlike tax refunds (suspended), tax collections are still happening!

FiremanBob, once again, we disagree. No one should under any circumstance have to "take an obama". We're already having enough obama forced upon us! :hysterical:
I prefer to think of it as being relieved of the burden he imposes on me. Afterwards I feel lighter and freer.

If they could dupe us into a tax for every sunrise we see I am sure they would.

They would probably try to attribute it to, for every sunrise you see that is a day the guberment has waylaid and postponed a terrorist attack from evil doers. We should be so lucky and happy to give our hard earned money to keep that going.

It's ever so much easier for the people who need to work without the layers of bureaucrats.

Fed free Fridays were good but this is better.

I have a few friends that are having a hard time cause of this and I am sorry for that. But on the whole it has been rather unnocticable. The libraries were open, Kroger was open, we read books, ate lunch. Yep...don't miss those feds too much.

The Feds always get paid retroactively for NOT working.

I feel sorry for the poor saps that are mission essential and don't get the paid holiday!!!!

Seems a little scary that we've allowed the Fed to grow to the point they have 800,000 employees they consider non-essential.

I got to work from home... but that is not too unusual. LOL

I am literally the only person the federal government has that does my job and it's related to national security, so no paid vacation for me. On the up-side, my position for this year was funded with last years money... so at least I know the money is there.

My mother in-law is getting a nice vacation though.

Wait... the Fed actually DID shut down?

I've been away from civilization for a few days, so I have not noticed.

Oh yea... that includes all recreational facilities too. National Parks, museums, monument and memorials, etc. Not just fed gov political offices.

This quote is funny...

Due to Congress’s failure to pass legislation to fund the government, the information on this web site may not be up to date. Some submissions may not be processed, and we may not be able to respond to your inquiries.

Information about government operating status and resumption of normal operations is available at USA.GOV....

...The following services that will continue during the government shut down:

Social security beneficiaries will continue receiving checks.
The U.S. Postal Service will keep delivering mail.
Active military will continue serving.
Air traffic controllers, prison guards and border patrol agents will remain on the job.
NASA Mission Control will continue supporting astronauts serving on the Space Station.
