Hours of entertainment... I'm thinking that may be the way to go...
Squirrel-Catapult.
"PULL!" <squirrel flying, but NOT a "flying squirrel")

If you can, move out of that neighborhood of left wing liberal/socialist turd for brains and into a neighborhood with some country folks in it.
I can't speak for the whole street but the folks that live on either side of me are some of the best people I've ever spent time with. No one, complains about anything. Now a few houses down the street - can't say much for them. They seem to like to try to tell everyone else how they should be living. We mostly ignore them and one of these days, if they need help doing something, we're gonna tell them to call the same guy at the county government they call when they want us to live like they do. Then we're gonna laugh and shut the door in their face.

I was discussing this thread with my other half, and she made aware of a thing called "The Yankee Flipper". It's this spiffy bird feeder that flings invading squirrels. Probably won't solve a squirrel problem, but it seems damn funny to watch.
I'd post a link to a website or video, but I haven't figured out how to go about it on this phone yet. And, while it's morning for you guys, it's the end of my day and I'm tired.

Yes Rev, our govenator passed the air gun law as my fellow air-gunners call it so that the counties, and cities could not tell us we couldn't shoot our expensive adult air rifles on our own property. With that said, there are several already shrouded, and quiet air rifles out there. I happen to have a 25 caliber Benjamin Marauder. That thing will sling a 25.4 grain 25 caliber pellet over 800 FPS, and in it's current tune shoots 45 FT.LBS. That will make a tree rats day.
Casey
P.S. send me a PM, maybe we could get together, and I might be able to loan you something nice and quiet.

That was actually really funny. I kinda want one now, not to feed the birds, but really to watch the squirrels get flung.

Now that I think about it some more I remember an older guy I used to work with getting supplies together at Lowe's one day. He said his neighborhood had "grown up" and he could no longer shoot the squirrels out of his pecan trees without offending someone so he came up with another idea.
He was building a bridge to fit from his privacy fence to the closet pecan tree. The bridge was going to have electrical insulators installed right down the middle with a live 110 volt feed on either side of the insulators. He said if he couldn't shoot them he was sure he could "quietly" electrocute them. I never did hear how it worked out for him.

When I was in scouts, more decades ago than I care to count, our assistant scout leader was the OIC of the USAF temperate zone survival school at Fairchild AFB outside of Spokane, WA. His idea of a vacation was to go north into the Canadian wilderness for 30 days with only what he could carry in a 50 lb pack and come back with most of his supplies and weighing the same if not more.
He taught us a way to get the fixings for squirrel stew with minimal effort. All you need is a near horizontal tree branch that they use often and a roll of very thin wire. He used copper magnet wire thin enough t be supple but thick enough to make a loop that would stand up by itself and strong enough to not break when the squirrel fought to get loose.
Here's an article about making squirrel snares and setting them up.
Made properly the loop will be high enough and large enough for the tree rat to put their head through but not their shoulders. The noose will tighten, the tree rat will fight it eventually loosing it's footing on the limb, hang itself, and be ready the next morning for easy harvesting.
We were taught the proper size for the loop was 2 finger widths in diameter and 1 finger width above the limb. YMMV

I have a house just inside of Cumberland Co for sale. We shoot whatever we want In our backyards with the sheriff's blessing. Feral cats are scarce as are squirrels in some backyards. Just a thought.
