Really they want to use that information, my information to "inform" voters.

Don't you/they think some one who goes to the trouble of getting a CHP would be part of a forum like this, be a supporter of things like the NRA, and VCDL. So those voters that they are trying to get information out to, will probably be very informed of what is going on, on a regular basis.

I smell something fishy, and it isn't in my house.

Pretty sure they use historically available CHP information to send mailings and make phone calls to gun owners, who they have historically assumed are going to vote for them, or are at least easily swayed to vote for them.

My question for you SHMIV, is would you ever vote for someone who shared the same l principles of liberty, if he didn't worship your god? What if he were a pagan? Or a Muslim? Or an atheist? What if the liberal democrat opposing him on the ticket was a devout Christian, would you choose that candidate?

It's a serious question as we have many many Christians who vote liberal, and with immigrants coming in of other faiths, who will be larger and larger in number. Liberty transcends religion, from what I can tell. My mom is Christian, who goes to a church where gay couples can be married. The pastor used to be a Jew...

I hope I'm not opening a can of worms, just trying to discuss other viewpoints.

I am a Christian as well. I am with SHMIV on this one.

Now would I vote for someone who was not exactly like me......that depends.....it depends on where he stands on the issues. Is he respectful of religion or is he looking to destroy my right to practice my religion. As for the liberal "devout Christian" I don't care how much a person swears they love Jesus....if they are willing to permit children to be torn apart limb from limb (which is what abortion does), I will not vote for them.

I have no problem with non believers acting like non-believers. Sinners will be sinners and there is nothing they or you can do to stop it. So if the state wants to give legal status to homosexual unions.....whatever.....just leave me, my family, and my church out of it. I have a big problem with Christan's acting like the world. I would not be a part of a church that married homosexuals. End of story. Those that love Liberty should be fine with my stance as it is my church's liberty to decide who they will marry and who they will not.
I'm with you. I appreciate your post, you are like most Christians I know.

I'm fine with anyone who respects and tolerates others until they try to push their will upon other groups. That does change things. We can all get along just fine, my point was that to increase liberty in general, for all citizens, we must attract more voters who may be apt to vote against any "white Christian males" favored by the GOP. But, if a white Christian male is the best candidate, I'll stand with him.

Here is the response I got from Fauquier County:

"If this office should receive a request for personal information of permit holders from any person or agency as set out in the referenced article, Mrs. Barb, the Circuit Court Clerk, would not release any personal information contained in applications for concealed handgun permits.

Helen Zaleski
Chief Deputy Clerk
Clerk’s Office
Circuit Court of Fauquier County

They run around saying its Taco night, or we are having chili. Yay!

Ohh ok good to know... Sorry I am just very cynical and especially more so these days. I don't oft believe what a politician tells me. They often tell you anything you want to hear to get your votes then do what ever the hell they want in office.

@Disciple: MamaBear pretty much summed it up. I will add that Muslims, specifically, I simply do not trust to champion the concept of free will. It's not in their doctrine. If the Muslim in question is devout, then I have no faith that he would be tolerant of other religions. On the other hand, if he's not too devout, I'd expect him to be rather wishy-washy.

As to voting for Atheists, Buddhists, etc., that would depend, entirely, on how he lines up with my views in general.

There are a few things in which I hold moral objections, but can find no legal fault. And that's the challenge; being able to seperate one's legal and moral objections, and finding the wisdom to see the difference.

From the comment section of the article:
"Republicans are currently moronically self-destructive."

Ahhh, brevity.
