Open carrying a 1911 is fine, as long as you're comfortable and proficient with it, and you have a quality holster.

Exactly. Plus, I was using a WC CQB and the more I thought about it I decided:
1. It's a tool and like all tools you use everyday it gets nicked, scratched, worn, etc. Normal wear and tear, but easier to shrug off on a $600 Glock.
2. If I ever had to use it and the police took my CC piece (for whatever crazy reason), best be a $600 Glock vice a $3k 1911!
That 1911 is a quality piece, but it functionally can't provide anything more than a much lower cost Glock...and of course the extra weight.

I started open carrying a Glock 30 when I was 19. It's a .45 and holds 10+1 but is still small enough to conceal comfortably if you ever decide to get your CHP. You'll probably like the double stack .45 as well because the grip is a little thicker than most.

Those are exactly the reasons a Taurus PT145 lives in my console instead of a Nighthawk Custom or Ed Brown 1911.
