I love cornered cat! She taught me so much. If I ever meet her I owe her a be beverage of her choice. It was she that taught me it was ok to be a woman and carry a gun. My mom and dad though pro- gun only ever had a shotty.
Yeah my classmate has not thought this through. He is not a parent though and has not had to think beyond himself and his wife. So he has the privilege of arm chair quarter backing with not one scintilla of skin in the game. He has never felt the sheer terror of a large man looking at you and your kids in a predatory manner. I have, it was bad, I do not wish to repeat it.

Your high-school classmate simple does not value your life or the lives of your children. These same people change their story when it's them or their wife/children.

This reminds me of the brief conversation that I had with my schoolteacher cousin, in which I expressed enthusiasm and support for the idea of arming teachers. She responded by covering her daughters ears and stating that she would "rather die than become a murderer in front of her kids". Be glad you homeschool, MBC; my cousin lives in Richmond, and may be the one in whom you'd entrust your child, otherwise. I told her that I was glad that I'd never have to put my kid in her care.

I do not understand people like that, I really don't. Sure, you've got some explaining to do, maybe (years of) therapy. But you're there to do it. How is that not better than the alternative?
Edit: And a school teacher should probably understand the definition of "murder".

@DaRoller: I hear ya. I actually attempted to explain the definition of murder, but she kept repeating that statement. I can't tell her anything. You see, she is better than me because she graduated college and became a teacher, while I dropped out of high school and became a trucker. Plus, I'm kind of redneck and own guns, like her dad, who she doesn't like.

But you have more, MBC.

Fire until dry, reload, repeat until threat is neutralized.
Righteous shoot!

That is right. I do have much more!
sHMIV, I am very glad we homeschool if only to keep that insanity away from my kids. I'd rather explain to them repeatedly why mommy had to shoot that bad guy than pick out their coffin and grave clothes.

+1
It's a mental defect that prohibits ones ability to deal with reality. I think some of it stems from people who've never had to deal with hard situation, particularly those where are no perfect outcomes. When presented with a bad situation they want to created a mythical option which allows them to ignore it and the problem will go away.
I can not fathom the morality of a person who would rather see children die than life a finger to help them.

Elitist are all about comparing credentials rather than arguments. If you want to poke the bear, remind you sister that in most major universities, the least qualified candidates across all programs are on the education track.

Lol, Gunderwood. Well, she's my cousin, not my sister. And I only see extended family during the major gatherings, so I best keep it civil for the sake of my grandmother. Besides, my pro-gun father, and one of my pro-gun sisters have both taught. Wouldn't want to offend them

You know what's funny? Our corporate security has authorized the legal definition in the Commonwealth for length of folding knife as being "fine".
So you have a BUNCHA RAZOR SHARP 4" FOLDERS within any given distance....
Life deals you lemons? You make lemon twist with your Cold Steel tanto.

That is good. My husbands work does not talk about knives, just firearms, so if it is not forbidden it is permitted. But we keep it on the D and L anyway. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor.

Definitely not a situation in which you run away. Especially if your children are with you I feel like it would make the situation more dangerous if you were to run.
