Why not just let the regular folks make their comments instead of telling them to play nice when someone offers the $1000 "National Match" custom lower receiver? We routinely disagree with each other on here in other posts, why should buying and selling be different? I wouldn't mind it a bit if someone comes on here trying to sell P-mags or used GI magazines for $50 a piece, I also wouldn't be offended if someone else pointed out that they might be overpriced.

I like the compared views of a "Country Store", and they're not just in WVA!

There was an article in a survival magazine that states, "...do not move to an area, and just start including yourself into the community, you need to feel your way through it, and find the social norms that are acceptable, and behaviors that are rewarded."

It's like a reverse auction, if nobody will meet the reserve, watch the price fall 'til somebody will. Or the seller just holds onto the goods.

Always a cry for reasonable regulation simply because someone doesn't like what another person is doing. Liberty isn't always easy, nor is it always pleasant. I appreciate the fact that Rick lets us have such freedom on his forum, it makes for an interesting place. However, that also means I have to put up with people with whom I disagree with or are annoying me. As long as their actions are ethical, I'm all for putting up with it and avoiding necessary regulation.

FYI, it's not unethical to ask for what I or you consider a ridiculous price...after all they're asking and I'm ignoring. No one is forcing me to buy it or even bother with their add. If someone bites and buys a stripped lower for $800, that's their business. It doesn't make sense to me, but they must have their reasons. On occasion I've paid a high price, but I've always done so willingly (except taxes), so in every case I valued the item much more than I valued the cash.

This can not be understated! The future is uncertain, that always drives prices. IF a real, grandfathered ban like the 86' were to occur in the near future for semi-auto AR15s, etc, $800 for a stripped lower is a steal!

Seems to me that there are two issues here:

- Price gouging by folks in the WTS section
- People joining VGOF with the sole intent of posting in the WTS without contributing to other sections in the forum.

The price gouging will fix itself via the free market system.

As far as "dead-weight membership" goes, I've seen other forums where you can become a member and post on the forums, but in order to post in the Marketplace section, you need to have financially contributed.
