OMG they just said that the executor for an estate could sell the gun across state lines.
Yep, get rid of all those dangerous weapons by moving them across the magic line, because the other states aren't as important, and there's no way they could come back.

Guy on now is a jackass, saying that he doesn't want people to have guns to fight the government that is upholding the constitution. Um. That's not the government people want to defend against.

Not to mention saying the executor of an estate can sell guns across state lines is prohibited by Federal law - it'd need to be sold via a FFL.

It's clear with the number of "I think's" and similar words being said, these proposed laws are not well thought out. I thought it was pretty strange that there was an acknowledgement that taking your kids to go hunting/shooting is fine and good, but as soon as you die, those children (even as adults) cannot touch those same guns.
And if Bruce Dickinson wants more cowbell, we should probably give him more cowbell!

Same logic that says that people that legally own guns today can no longer be trusted to have them tomorrow.
Oh, and according to the speaker, 10rd magazines will still be legal, so long as you don't put more than 7 bullets in them. What he said (which is not the same as what I read) is that the magazines don't have to be retrofitted to only physically hold 7.
Likewise, the "solution" for people that are using firearms for self-defense against a large number of bad guys is for them to change the magazine.
I guess bad guys don't know how to change magazines?

Abinathi is a complete and utter tool. He confuses "secrecy" and "privacy" wrt publishing the names of the concealed permit holders. He is the reason the 2A exists.

From thetruthaboutguns.com:

* Police would create a registry of assault weapons. Those New Yorkers who already own such weapons would be required to register their guns with the state. Current state law defines assault weapons as having two “military rifle” features, but the legislation reduces that specification to just one feature and makes the unsafe storage of assault weapons a misdemeanor.
* Private sales of assault weapons to people outside the immediate family circle would be subject to a background check and online sales of assault weapons would be banned.
* Magazines would be restricted to seven bullets, from the current 10. Current owners of higher-capacity magazines would have a year to sell them out of state. If an owner is found to have eight or more bullets in a magazine, she could face a misdemeanor charge.
* Ammunition dealers are required to do background checks, similar to those for gun buyers, and those sales and amounts must be reported to the state.
* The proposed measure would require that stolen guns be reported within 24 hours.
* The measure would also enshrine a system through which mental health professionals would be required to report to officials when they believe their patients may harm themselves or others. In such cases, police would be allowed to confiscate any guns owned by a potentially dangerous patient.

It was so bizzare listening to it. Voices upporting the kw ites MLK and Iraq as reasons to pass it. One person was saying the concealed carry holders that were published were trying to be secretive; clearly the idea of privacy was lost on this person. A solution given to running out of rounds was to have another gun available. It was reported that at least one major retailor would not do the background checks.

Things werevso wierd, I thought I was streaming in The Onion.

If there are any patriots left in that state may I suggest immigration. Yes, NY is beautiful, yes Niagara is amazing. The Adirondacks breathtaking, but not worth it. It is done. Unless that state splits and leaves Albany, NYC and LI to themselves then the rest of the state is salvageable.

I wonder how many new reloaders are created because of the new laws.

We all have our own pet features in this bill. Mine is that, by demanding the sale of those "high capacity magazines" out of the State and into neighboring states, they are creating their own "pipeline" of illegal magazines coming back into the State for criminal use...no doubt, Va. gun shows will be blamed.

A Texas lawmaker says he plans to file the Firearms Protection Act, which would make any federal laws that may be passed by Congress or imposed by Presidential order which would ban or restrict ownership of semi-automatic firearms or limit the size of gun magazines illegal in the state, 1200 WOAI news reports.

Republican Rep. Steve Toth says his measure also calls for felony criminal charges to be filed against any federal official who tries to enforce the rule in the state.

Please don't invite them down here. If that were to happen, they would want to "fix" Virginia. We already have enough idiots of our own, we don't need to start importing them.

@grumpyMSG - those democrats up there are of the same ilk here. There is reason to be concerned.

My buddies would hardly be the type to be in favor of gun control if they want to move, now would they? Use some common sense. They're hunters and shooters and pretty conservative. We need more shooters - we are facing a culture war and Virginia is not immune.

Found this interesting. I'm not a conspiricy theorist, but this is outright scarey.
"The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subject races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that the supply of arms to the underdogs is a sine qua non for the overthrow of any sovereignty. So let's not have any native militia or native police. German troops alone will bear the sole responsibility for the maintenance of law and order throughout the occupied Russian territories, and a system of military strong-points must be evolved to cover the entire occupied country."
--Adolf Hitler, dinner talk on April 11, 1942, quoted in Hitler's Table Talk 1941-44: His Private Conversations, Second Edition (1973), Pg. 425-426. Translated by Norman Cameron and R. H. Stevens. Introduced and with a new preface by H. R. Trevor-Roper. The original German papers were known as Bormann-Vermerke.

It is not a conspiracy if it is simply history. Despots have consistently tried to disarm those they wish to subjugate. History is clear on that point. Now we either let ourselves be disarmed by those willing to destroy our great country or we fight. Right now we are checking off boxes and we are not quite yet to the ammo box. I suppose we are somewhere in the middle between ballot box and jury box.
