IMHO if your shooting .45 a +P would be overkill... depending on the firearm +P's are actually worse to use, due to getting the gun on target for the next shot. I use them in my 9mm and they are great, But only occasionally and for carry purposes, A steady diet of them can mess any gun up after awhile,,, I stick with regular Gold Dots in .40 and up...

I dont shoot +P regularly on the range but I have shot enough to know I can handle them. And the only +P I carry in my .45 are the Federal Tactical. I also carry the Winchester silvertips sometimes. I dont have any feed problems but the one reason I like the Federal Tacticals is they come in the EFMJ variety. I found a couple of good articles on .45 defense rounds and will try some of their recommendations. I've shot several different brands through all my .45s and have yet to find one they dont like.
What would you suggest? I'm interested of course in maximum stopping power with minimal chance of complete penetration.

I do the same ,run them through occasionally,, Myself I like Speer Gold Dots pretty much in any caliber ,prices are not too cost prohibitive, Some will try and gouge you. I us the GD's in my .40 and .9mm +P without any issue,, THey make that little 9mm wake up and both are good in the consistent target hit areas, Grab a box and give em a try,, I think you'll like em. T here is a good amount of info out there on them.

Hows that for coincidence? I just got 80 Speer Gold Dot 230 gr GDHP the other day. Shot a few yesterday and they worked really well. Got them for $28/20 at Cabelas.
Great minds think alike.
