Slugs. If you want to shoot slugs and make consistent hits at 100+ yards, you need iron sights or a scope.
Which brings me to my question. When you get a chance to get to the range, let me know how it does with what slugs. My guess is that Breneke slugs and a modified choke would be best, but....
I have been thinking about getting a 12ga semi auto like the saiga or Vepre, but if I can not consistently hit a paper plate at 100 yards.....I will stay with me Rem 870.

I really have no plans to shoot slugs out of it. I have no need to use slugs pending the fact I have 2 SCARs that are very capable of reaching out to distance. This saiga is my up close and personal gun. The guy I bought it from said it was very accurate when he did though.

ORS, I thought he meant C-More sight (might be the same company that makes the hospital gowns); but knowing this bunch, he may shore-nuf have been talking about a claymore mine. T'wouldn't surprise me none.

Yes, but I personally have got no use for slugs. That's what rifles are for; and they're RIFLED, ya know? I know there are places where you can only hunt with shotguns, but they're nowhere close to my stompin' grounds (and besides, a slug in a shotgun is a pretty dangerous thing in flat country, too, I would think. I'm just assuming slugs are allowed in shotgun-only areas, but I wouldn't be surprised to hear they weren't. But I know plenty of people who do use slugs with a ventilated rib shotgun anmd are as accurate as the round, or so they say.

We see the world differently.
I want to know what the gun in hand CAN do. Maybe I will only use my shotguns to hunt rabbits, but then one day I have it in hand and I am hungry and it is bird season. I want to know if I can cleanly take that bird and with what shot. Or to put it in a more combat mode. I have cleared the house of bandits, but now some body is shooting at me from across the street. Now what. Go change guns or ....?

If I decide to shoot some slugs out of it, I will definitely post up results.
I don't really plan on hunting with a Saiga 12 though.... But I get what you're saying. I have a very high powered air rifle I use for small game. The rifles for large game, and I really don't hunt much in the way of winged critters.
To me a firearm is a tool. I like to use the best tool for what I am doing. If I am hunting deer and see some birds, I'm not really going to fire a shot at the birds because it will scare the deer and vise versa.
The S12 is strictly for SD in CQC. For me at least.
