Don't like Android due to the privacy violations and issues. Will go into it later when I have time, but I urge those of you that value your privacy to be aware that Android-based phones are an issue.
iPhones are a little better. Good enough to be my platform of choice.

I'll be getting the Iphone 5 but I'll be waiting a good few weeks, I'm not into lines or rushing into contracts. I have been rocking nothing special phone's since I started and never got a smartphone despite being kinda a geek. Just didn't want to pay for the data cause I'm also cheap! Why Iphone? Well it's not the specs, I mean the specs don't even touch the Android competitors dollar for dollar. But Apple has never been about that. Were they shine is in the quality. Look at any of the teardowns out there and you'll generally find that people are very impressed with the quality and well designed circuits. You build one phone a year, you can do it very very well. BTW the Lighting connector is totally flipible, it's the simple things in life.

Apple and Google have done the exact same things...

I like my Droid Razr Maxx. The only complaint I have is that the VZ Navigator software on the thing is annoying the hell out of me and I can;t figure out how to get rid of it.

Tap on the menu button, Manage apps, swipe at the top to go from downloaded, to internal storage, to running, to all. Tap on VZ Navigator, tap on the Disable button.
I've also disabled Video Calling, Verizon Video, VCAST Tones, Talk, Swype, Social Location, Smart Actions, Slingbox, Slacker, Quickoffice, NFL Mobile, Netflix, My Verizon Mobile, My Music, Music Store, MotoPrint, MotoCast ID, Google+, Google Play Music, Google Play Movies, Google Play Books, Facebook, Apps, and Amazon Kindle.
Which leads me to another gripe about the Android platform in that why is there so much crap preloaded on these phones? Hopefully with Google's purchase of Motorola there will be less bloat on their phones.

Howdy,
Does the iPhone 5 offer the capability to make and receive telephone calls? My iPhone 3G does, but not as well as my Motorola i560. The i560 makes a pretty good walkie-talkie, too.
Regards,
George

That is a complaint I have with android. The providers insist on loading it up with crap you have to remove and disable. Apple is much better about that.

Not without rooting the phone, which will prevent it from being upgraded down the road.

Really think I'm the last person under 30 to have never owned an iPhone or even want one.
Wonder if I'll die of the cholera on the Oregon trail?
