@dormin...
The yearly-printed VCDL cards seem to fit the bill, no? I carry one in my wallet with my attorney's card and always have a few extra to hand out to people with questions.

Re: More Open Carry Questions!
If you want to open carry just running errands place to place whatever, then you just gotta look for signs , though if you are going to a movie theater or large gathering where you will be around a group people for a pre determined amount of time this is my take on it.
but first
let me say I work as a private investigator in the insurance industry conducting surveillance basically sitting in a car for hours in neighborhoods that I don't live in videotaping people 100 to 200 yards away or whatever. The people that i'm actually watching/taping don't notice me because i'm 7 or 10 houses away or whatever but since i gotta park somewhere, I end up parked in front of across from, near other people's houses and since those people are gonna wonder who is this man sitting in a car for the last 2 3 4 + hours in this hot a** weather they call police 911 to report "suspicious vehicle man blah blah. Cops will come out cautious check my id run plate etc waste their time, my time etc so in order to avoid this I will call the non emergency # of the police or sheriffs office of the city/county i'm in and tell them when i get there, the area i'm gonna be in, my car type plate etc and tell em if you get "suspicious vehicle' calls of this car in this area don't sweat it , i'm a pi & harmless just a heads up
Whenever i make that call, i never get a "visit" because they will just tell the caller they know i'm there, i already called myself and i'm legal but if i don't make that call, chances are il'l get the blue light special with the included suspect treatment sidedish
If it works in my job like that, why not for legal open carry at a movie theater or similiar, you know how long and what time your there and when they get that 911 man with a gun call, they will know not to send the swat team.
the call takes 30 seconds to a minute to make
I know it sucks to feel the need to "check in" like that when legally exercising a right yet you know if you open carry to a theater especially after colorado there is gonna be atleast one knucklehead there ready to call 911 from the popcorn line.
