Not a bad idea to THREATEN him with that; because he knows a vote for somebody besides him or Kaine is the same as a vote for Kaine as far as his election is concerned. Which also explains why it may be a good idea to THREATEN it, but it is a bad idea to actually DO it.

Gun-crazy? Me? I'd say the gun-crazy ones are the ones that don’t HAVE one.

No one responds to empty threats, after crushing defeats in 2008 the Republicans at least started talking the talk (of course not walking the walk though) on their fiscal conservative merits after the (then) unprecedented orgy of spending under Bush they were never particularly outspoken on.
In 2010 when they took back the House it "wasn't a mandate, but a second chance" implying they learned their lesson. Sometimes you have to whack a dog on the nose to get it to stop pissing in your shoes.
As long as people know you wont really vote against them they will feel they can publicly say crap like Allen said without actual consequence and theyre usually right.

Kreutz...damn you...
You have me thinking again. You're process of "Market economics" makes good logical sense! If I have to pay for the CT, X-ray, and test, I WILL be question the cost considering that it will be MY money. Much less the cost of an OFFICE VISIT! Specifically, why can't the U.S. run like other Countries where the doctor comes up with the prognosis, but the PHARMACIST does the prescriptions! Then the doctor can concentrate on your illness, not the drug reps feeding them BBQ, and pizza.
Dagggone YOU!
I think healthcare DID get complicated by Insurance companies. Doctors of old didn't charge $65 a visit when it was just them, a nurse, and maybe a book keeper.

Not sure what it used to cost or how it is reflected in inflation, but I know my grandmother was born on Black Tuesday and her father flipped out at having to shell out a suddenly very needed $20.00 to the doctor (unsure if included or didnt include hospital) for the delivery.I think healthcare DID get complicated by Insurance companies. I suspect 20 bucks in 1929 was as severe a whack to the average workers as 100.00 or so is now?
But the point is there were only two parties involved in the transaction...not several like today, which could control costs OR just shift them elsewhere, who knows? Problem is doctor vists are the cheapest episode of care by far. Labs add up very very fast for instance.

I can't remember whether ole Doc I*g*a* charged $200 or $400 to deliver #1 son. He's 42 years old. I think the hospital bill was something like $2,000. Of course, back then, in my part of the world at least, they did little more than give momma a place to lay down till it was time to catch the brat, but still...........
How's that stack up now?

Dunno, but you know what?
George Allen may piss me off, but Tim Kaine has caused me to NOT speak with some folks anymore...
They loved "the Great Disappointment" as some of the moderate Dem's called him after MAHK Warner's term as Guv'. To the point they were supporting him, even though Kaine voted AGAINST some things they believed, and I called them on it.
Haven't spoken to me since. Also thought I didn't vote for Obama because "I was Southern, and he was black".
Yeah! Couldn't be because he was a Left Leaning social agenda pushing POS who wasn't qualified as a dog catcher. Nooooo.
