Ok... SHMIV... I do appreciate the enlightenment... I must address the above quote... because it is, and has been, a very major thorn in my side as a man in a business that is filled with 'wannabees' and 'cowboys'....Tacticool is a play on the word tactical. For example, were I to start dressing as though I were on an on-duty SWAT team in the middle of an operation, even though all I'm really doing is driving a delivery truck, one would say that I was "tacticool". Like the term "SuperTrucker", it is not a complement; it would be a nice way of calling me a douche nozzle.
... I am a licensed Virginia bail bondsman and have been for a bit over 13 years... also a retired trucker with just under 30 years OTR. (retired with UPS)... I aspire to the KISS principle and carry out my 'bail recoveries', when need be... in a very low profile and covert mode... TV has portrayed my profession in a rather unfortunate light... ie, 'Dog'... etc... and all the macho wannabees seem to be coming out of the woodwork... I am old, have two titanium knees, have had 4 back operations and am about 100lbs. overweight... so to say the least... I do not wish to chase or fight anyone... although I can still shoot fairly well and I do have a bit of MA training in my younger years... but as Josey Wales said... "a man's got to know his limitations"... and I know and accept mine. Having said all that, I know exactly what you are talking about now.
I network with a national group of very professional bondsmen, recovery agents, PI's and others in related businesses and on a daily basis, we are bombarded with folks looking to get into this business because they saw some "macho".... pseudo-tough guy who posted his video on you-tube expounding his manly actions .... it is exactly the opposite of what this business is really about and this thread pretty much addresses those sentiments...
thanks for the info and although I don't post a lot on here... I do read and just wanted a bit of clarification on these terms.
take care and watch out for the "SWAT teams"...
