I have put hundreds of rounds through it an only once have I had a problem with a jam which came from not running the action smoothly. If you are slow with the action and not smooth it can jam. I cleared the jam pretty fast as I had a set of screw drivers with me.

I do have some complaints. The sights sucked that came on my gun their was something wrong with them right out of the box so I went to XS sights on it. My other complaint is they could have machined the loop a little better it does have sharp edges and can cut you if your not holding on the gun tight. I plan on buying another level and smoothing it out.

I've said this before:

I don't have extensive experience with Marlins, but I have owned a few of them over the years and I've shot a few that belonged to others. They may not be the fanciest or the prettiest gun you can buy, but I've never seen one that wouldn't drive tacks right out of the box, and I've never had any feeding or other problems with any of them. Nothing wrong with fancier, prettier, higher-priced guns, but there ain't a dawggone thang wrong with a Marlin, either, and you might just get more for your money with the Marlin.

I'm a huge fan of Marlin .22's. I haven't used anything bigger though. The ones I did use were very nice. One belonged to my buddy. He had it for something like 30-35 years and it still shot great.

I noticed there's an icon on this thread of a lime green, buck-toothed smiley face. What is the significance of that?

I guess it depends on your definition of cheap. You pick up Rossi, Marlins, and even beat up Winchesters for under $400. I see them on VAguntrader all the time.
