Well, Kruetz, where you went off the track here is that the doctrine of stare decisis presumes an authoritative tribunal by whose prior decisions one will be bound. Your opinion simply doesn't meet that standard.

Stare decisis simply means "let the decision stand". I will let stand that my pearls of experience and actual knowledge are not fit for the swine of a guy who thinks a pity position on the board of Possum Anus Hospital (or whatever they call it out there in dirt road land) is remotely equal to mine.

As in, its a waste of time so that's why I didn't answer back there.

Mmm, yes. When I was 14 I was making cash writing papers for the "diverse Americans" working in my mothers deli (and having to dumb them down to hide the fact Jaquan or Eduardo didn't write them) and reading Aristotle and Dante (and not just the hilarious Inferno, even the boring Purgatorio and Paradiso).

What were you doing? Chewin' tobacky and tippin cows? Fun I'm sure, but not exactly intellectually rewarding.

While you were young you read some books by famous dead guys, some folks who lived in the country might have actually been working on the family's farm and learned things that you won't learn from Aristotle like, cow tipping is just a myth. Cattle sleep lying down, horses on the other hand can sleep on their feet or lying down. Some might even say they were exposed to something like Dante's inferno, stacking hay in a barn's hay mow up near the black tin roof in July. It is a little different than writing a paper that someone was going to claim as his own, some folks would refer to that as cheating, and be grounds for a good @$$whipping if your parents found out. Now here is the question, if you started reading boring books (your words) why did you continue to read them? Most country folk I know would call that "just plain dumb". If I recall from other posts you grew up on Long Island, NY. If I recall one of the hobbies of many bored young kids up there was vandalism, whether it was running over trashcans with a car (my dad had a special can just for that variety of clown), running through some body's shrubbery with a car (my grandfather had angle Iron in his hedge about every 10 feet that would do a nice job on a tire or transmission oil pan), or the removal of mailboxes with M80s or baseball bats. I think most "country bumpkins" had it different from you, I am not saying it is better, personally I would rather roam the farm with a .22 hunting groundhogs than read a "boring" Dante book...

I've heard this so many times, " at least he died doing what he loved". Which kinda makes dying OK for some folks, just not his wife.

don't knock Mailbox baseball - it is the time honored tradition of my Long Island people - and those trick mailboxes people would reinforce with wood or steel; well that was one of the hazards -if it wasn't for those were was the challenge?

Guns are villified by the authorities from a young age; in school, in everywhere. Hell, even though it is legal, NYPD will arrest you if they catch you driving through city limits to go hunting upstate with a rifle in your trunk -sure you will get off after the hassle and a lawyer and waiting months to get your rifle back if you do(and there is no way to get off long island unless you take a boat without going through NYC)

As for reading the classics, everybody can benefit from that, but I think everybody could also benefit from working on a farm and knowing how to grow their own food or dig their own well; the two aren't mutually exclusive-hell our founding fathers did them both

I did but got copies of all the tests and bills before. $18,500 and no insurance coverage due it being related to elective surgery! I paid not a dime and told them why after I learned the deal where he killed a woman the year before. Scary incompetence.

As usual, Kreutz failed to understand my post. Whatever he was doing at 14, the problem is that he has not matured beyond that stage since.

I am not unacquainted with the classics, and I have a fairly impressive "diploma wall" by most folks' standards; but I try my best to not let it go to my head. And I'm wondering which of the classics left you so self-impressed and with such a low opinion of the rest of us. It's not that I care what you think about us; it's just that I sometimes am bemused at how people can sometimes be so vastly self-impressed with so little evident justification. But I'm sure you have as little regard for my maunderings as I do yours.

I do want to opine, though, that however much you may rail on about how backwards and benighted you think we country bumpkins are, you obviously don't really know jack sh!t about country people. There are plenty of smart, well-educated folks from the rural South; and even from the mountains. And most of them aren't congenitally obnoxious like most of you yankees (bless your hearts). Most of us Southerners who attain a decent education remain amicable and well-adjusted (for bumpkins, that is), and are able to avoid the “monkey syndrome”.
