all this nonsense about someone walking up and grabbing your firearm is just that NONSENSE. it just doesn't happen. i think this nonsense is put out by the CC industry to sell CC Classes. and propagated by sheeple CCers that don't want others exercising their right to carry where it can be seen

Or maybe it's something called INEXPERIENCE (at least from me and other new handgun owners on this forum) and since we take firearm safety important but don't have decades of carrying experience like you obviously do simply asked more experienced people about the topic. Thank you for your input.

No one said anything about preventing anyone else from exercising their rights and no one here is perpetuating "nonsense" put out by the CC industry.

Not utter nonsense. There have been cases of it happening. But, it's rare.

Someone earlier in this thread just posted about it happening, Mr. Heyrakes.

I don't really find it necessary to constantly worry about someone stealing my gun off of my hip, but at the same time, I find it utterly foolish to completely dismis the possibility. Once in a while you do run into some idiot with poor impulse control and nothing to lose.

I always find I'm more comfortable open carrying with a good holster that offers good retention.
Something like an NTAC custom one -where while you don't have the active retention of the Serpa but its configured so it only draws when pulled at the proper angle. I do think someone who seems insecure and distracted may be a target for someone trying to take their gun, so awareness and seeming at ease with it are important.


It is funny all the times i have open carried no one has ever asked me about it
(though here in Ashburn outside of ranges and gun stores Dulles Wal Mart is the only place i've ever seen other people open carrying)


Over all while i have the CHP I prefer to open carry
I think that is a better deterence than concealed

but that is just my opinion

Had someone jokingly try it once, The elbow to the face, and the hip throw was enough to say "Stay off my gun, son."

To reach into another person's holster and grab his gun is so unthinkable that I would never have thought to worry about it. Around here that would be SO CLEARLY a grounds-fer-@ss-whuppin offense that a feller would never try it unless he meant to shoot somebody; that's for sure. If I ever did such a thing, I would fully expect it to "get my killin' done", as the old folks say 'round here.

you have to wonder what goes through a person's head to find the idea of grabbing a loaded gun out of someone's holster by surprise as funny
