Glad you are happy with them dorminWS. Regarding taking Pincus up on his offer, I suspect you confused me with someone else. I'm afraid I'm in his camp with respect to short barreled 1911s. I'm not nearly so adamant about their unsuitability for carry as he is though. I just strongly prefer 5-inch 1911s and think they are far more reliable. Glad to hear the Ruger is largely to your liking though as I have one on my acquisition short list.

Sorry, I guess that was CCFan. And what guy in his right mind wouldn't rather have 5" than 3"? Nothing strange about that.

And fur's the Ruger SR1911 goes, if I get a chance to buy a second one, I just might do it.

Belated congratulations! Short 1911s just have to shoot the bullet a little further from the barrel to reach the target, that's all. I am in complete 1911 envy here. I'm still working towards my first. I think a politician once said something about there being no such thing as an ugly baby. That has to doubly apply for a 1911.

I may put a Ruger on my short list as well.... Yeah, I ended up with the 4".. I just don't want a 3" .45 due to the loss of velocity. I don't mind carrying a 3" 9mm using +p.. that's a different story. But I don't think I'm going to not carry my shorter 1911...
