Just added a Rock Island Armory 1911 Tactical in 9mm. Should I keep the original smooth wood grips or go with the black rubber Novak grips? Any thoughts?

Wood is more visually striking due to contrast IMO, but why ask us when you obviously have good taste to begin with?

I agree. I love the look of the wood in contrast to the firearm. However, I prefer textured grips (detractor from the stock grip). I don't have a black on black 1911. It gives it a stealthy look and feel (being textured also is a plus). The wood grips look is classic. The black Novak grips gives it an ominous look.

I purchased the grips on eBay. Since installing them, I have found that it "opens the door" for people interested in talking about gun ownership and open carry. I have yet to encounter (*knock on wood*) any negative anti's.

My customized Rock Island Tactical 1911 in .45 (above) and it's "little brother, newly customized Rock Island Tactival 1911 in 9mm (bottom). Both sporting matching Pearce finger grips and barrel bushing compensators.
I am thinking about nick naming each of my firearms. Seems like each one has it's own "personality". Anyone out there have nicknames for any of their firearms?

I don't know if it's in the gunporn category, but I can't wait to test my AR with this conversion kit.
