Me too! I also have a mass grave in the closet, but my county district supervisor won (it was contested), but she only spent like 500 bucks.
If i could afford to take off work for a month it would be fun, but I'm not from 'round these parts(neither is anyone else though) and don't know enough people to win.
You should go for it if you have the time, maybe you can split the vote from one candidate and ruin someones plans?

For anything above irrelevancies like conservation district seats, there's too much involved - money, power, both - so the insiders will react viciously to any attempt to pull their lips off the teat. Normal people don't run for office because the political class will ruin their lives for trying.

But think about this? Every "skeleton", and rumor, and past daliances... Come right out, and say "YUP! I DID IT! No Excuses! I was stupid, and young, and I enjoyed every minute!"
Where would they go with that? "HE IS NOT OF GOOD CHARACTER!" Really? I just admitted to doing wrong,I made no excuses, and I have shown that behavior is no longer being done, that's not good character?
So we want the Lord thy God in politics? I'm pretty sure he doesn't want the job. Hell, I don't want the job.
That will be my campaign slogan "VOTE REVEREND! DA' HELL COULD IT HURT!?!"

Yup you would think they'd just own up to screwing up and move on but they dwell on the bullshit and let the media and others have a field day at their expense...I'd like to see a candidate that just tells his shortcomings right out (sort of like eminem in 8 mile) and see what the media does then,

Funny that... I've always said that I would adopt that same strategy, should I run for office. The medias collective head would simply explode. So would the opponent. No one would expect such a thing.
