Goats are a hardy animal, and help keep the field grass low, which helps SPOT predatory animals... I think "zones" in terms of a self preservation farm, with fruit/nut trees on the outer ring, moving inward to the Home itself.

Have to get out of this gall-durned subdivision to even think about goats/chickens.....curse you HOA! (Husband made the call on that--one I disagreed with, but here we are!)
