LabCorp in Virginia Beach has it posted ,,No firearms or weapons allowed

Story:

Long story short (Kinda): My two friends and I went there Saturday, one friend was open-carrying his 15+1 Glock 22, as we visit and carry VERY often (to multiple locations). A female customer, older woman, approached him and apparently ranted about his carrying. He said the lady wanted him to "cover up that gun because it's scaring the kids". My buddy, NOT being a CHP owner, stated that he legally could not cover his weapon, apologized for the inconvenience, then returned to the table to eat. About 2-3 minutes later, the (assumed) Asst. Manager comes out, and asks my buddy to "please leave or place your weapon in the car or something. I just spoke with the manager, and he said he's asked you multiple times not to return with your gun." This is completely false, as we rarely visit this location (small variety, not the cleanest), and only did so because it was very close to the gun show we were attending. So, my buddy put his Glock in his car, came back inside to eat, but we all agreed never to return to this location.


I personally am not fond of the whole "If they don't let me carry, I won't go there"- logic, but to have the staff tell an obvious lie, as opposed to just simply asking us to leave is just wrong.
We have decided to only visit the "Ashland" location, where we have often spoken with the staff and other customers about our firearms, and none of them have ever opposed our decision to carry.

My girlfriend, and her three kids (plus the occasional Boy Scout pack) end up there eating, if they say they won't allow it? I'll DEFINITELY be bringing that up to Corporate's attention, AND...

Use STARBUCKS as the "MODEL FOR DOING IT CORRECTLY!!!"

I noticed the last time I was at the BB&T on Sudley road near K-Mart in Manassas that the no firearms sign they had posted near the bottom of the door had disappeared. I looked all over for it, but it was gone. Also at Manassas mall I only found this blurb on their website about firearms, and I looked at just about everything:

The commission of any act defined by law as a criminal act is prohibited such as: theft, carrying weapons, graffiti, property damage, etc.

I see nothing at all on their site about no legal firearms, and I also noticed the past few times there that no door I have entered has had a sign banning all firearms. I have to wonder if their policy has changed.

Without signs, all they can do is ask you to leave if you are OC'ing. If you are carrying concealed, they should never know that you are carrying.

Suppose you visit an establishment that has "No Firearms" posted at *some* entrances, but you happen to enter through one that does not have it posted. Same situation? Can they only ask you to leave, or would that be considered trespassing, even though you didn't see any sign upon entering the building?

I would say that they could only ask you to leave. The can't expect you to completely walk to every means of entry to find out, right?

These two places? YEP! BIG OLD "BUFFALO WILD WINGS BANS GUNS FROM THIS PREMISES" SIGNS PAINTED! PAINTED! AGAIN FOR EFFECT, PAINTED ON THE WINDOW AS YOU COME IN!

I sent them e-mails, and it cost them $60 bucks last night from me at least... My fellow gun owners didn't eat there as well, so in total? That sign cost them between $300-$500 just last night... Spread the word to NOT eat there till they change that policy. Even if you don't carry open, or concealed? It's a CIVIL RIGHT!

No, Hooters responded to his inquiry that they follow state law. This is just like the now famous Starbucks policy.

No, Hooters responded to his inquiry that they follow state law. This is just like the now famous Starbucks policy.

It means a lot actually. As Americans we have become so use to government interference with everything that we think there must be a law for everything which is legal. The invalid assumption you have made is that there is a law which allows private property owners to ban firearms. There is no such law. Just like OC, the lack of a law means the power is reserved by the people.

The law allows CHP holders to CC in such an establishment (ABC license which the only reason the government has any say whatsoever) so long as they do not consume alcohol. That is the law, not the reverse as you have claimed. Thus, Hooters or any other establishment which says they will follow the law and has not created a special policy means exactly what that.

Greenbrier mall in Chesapeake has signs stating "NO Illegal Guns"
so I would take this to mean that as long as I carry a legal gun I'm
o.k. I am sure the sign throws some people because of the wording....
