Marc, you make an excellent point. I've been thinking the same thing.
Those like Spanish, while I disagree on the Sarvis completely, voted within their rights. To blame him, or Sarvis, is foolish and divisive. And, it ignores the large number of folks who actually voted for TM! That's a much bigger problem.
TM's win is reflective of the culture. We all, as citizens, have dropped our guard. Let's turn our conversation to productive solutions.

I agree. Let's stop whining, pointing fingers, and instead let's come together to stop this from happening the next time. Let's rally around our common cause and stand up stronger and smarter than before.
As I said in another post, one of the great things Virginia has going for it is that the governor can only serve one term. Until the next election, let's work together to prevent any bad new laws from being passed, and let's not give up the fight for getting good new laws passed.

Something like 2 million votes cast in a state of over 8 million is really sobering for a lot of reasons.

Fact is a MAJORITY of folks voted against Gubernator McAzzhat!
KC was the first AG to stand against obamacare and WON against eric holder. He stood for Virginia law steadfastly every time. He didn't attempt to bend state law to his personal beliefs and would have made a far better gov. than either of the other candidates.
If libertarians (even the batcrapcrazy ones) and conservatives can't agree on the constitution and vote accordingly we are doomed.
Another week of wearing Obamacare as an albitros and the outcome would have been different. Had repubics poured the funds into KC's race that they did Krispy Kreme Kristy's the outcome would have been different. The RNC didn't want KC because he was perceived as a Tea Party crazy. Their "big tent" approach will give them nothing but another N.E. RINO candidate that will lose. They'd better start embracing the constitution and conservatism and abandon the country club RINO's or the party is doomed.
I'm on no high horse my libertarian friends but it's apparent your brains are suffering oxygen shortages from the lofty heights of your white chargers.
The asleep and libertarians elected Obama.
Libertarians elected Gubernator McAzzhat.
Time to wake up and do what you have to do so that the republic survives!!

Moving forward will you still get death threats if you critique a libertarian in other than angelic terms....????
BTW I don't remember that quote
I'm outta here in 3 years...this place is 3/5 gone the way of Colorado. The pot smoking libs and libertarians playing footsie with the gays and illegals is why. I did my best and worked full tilt for 15 years to change it but it's gone. I love Virginia and truely hope the good folks can take it back.

rather fish refuses to accept that the GOP abandoned Cuccinelli well before the election (
http://misguidedchildren.com/politics/2 ... ville/6271 ) and prefers to defect blame to others.
I've seen no death threats made to Mr. Fish, but I've seen him come close to that toward anyone daring to point out the flaws of the GOP.

Sarvis people give us Cuchinelli people a little space. A little room to be mad. We'll be back with you shortly, but we need a few days to be mad as all get out at pretty much whoever we think it the most guilty target.
Y'all expected to lose, we fought hard and hope to win. By Monday we will mostly be on the same page. It just takes a few days to wipe the blood and sweat from our eyes.

I am certain that after seeing this election (and the last presidential election) that there is a cancerous rot from within the Republican party. Maybe they are simply Democrats or even just paid off by Democrats (they like being unethical and buying votes like that)
Either way, it is clear that the Republican party doesn't want the Republican party to win.
It is futile to sit here and "try next time", because next time the same thing will happen.
We need a way to completely destroy the Republican party from within. It needs to be infiltrated by people who cherish the upmost core of liberty. That, is the only way we will ever get candidates that have a shot of winning.
The fact Ken got the votes he did was a fluke they were not expecting. They came so close to their plans falling apart.

Speak for yourself. I no longer care for anyone who intentionally tries to undermine liberty. I wouldn't piss on them to put out a fire and they are surely not welcome on my property.
They didn't want to vote for Ken to prove a point, even thought there was no good side to that point.
People are just afraid to swallow their pride for the better of the state.
As far as I am concerned, anyone who voted for sarvis or mccauliffe cannot honestly say they are pro gun, nor do I want to hear them complain when they are worried about gun control coming to VA.
You cannot claim to be a champion of liberty yet do everything possible to try and destroy it.

I've had the same thought. Makes you wonder why they didn't bother with a primary to determine whether to run Bill Bolling or Ken Cuccinelli. Instead, they chose the most right-leaning candidate for governor that they could find.
Maybe it was a litmus test? Checking to see just how many die-hard conservatives are in Virginia? A test for the 2016 election to help identify a proper candidate for the presidency?
or maybe they really don't want to win...

Don't forget the fact that the RNC pulled all support from Cuccinelli at the beginning of October. The RNC wanted McAuliffe to win.
The sooner the GOP is destroyed and replaced (whether by Tea Party, Libertarian Party, or Constitution Party), the better.

I think the Rs lost everything when they didn't balance the budget back when they promised to do so years back. They then apologized and said they learned their lesson, but no one believed them. Too bad the same doesn't seem to happen with the Ds

I wasn't drunk I was mad and tend not to mince words for the easily brused. Of course the repubics short delt KC... I can do math. I also endured the zombie like musings of the libertarians here! Face it the left of that rank is batshitcrazy. Looking more pot smoking tree hugger stoned progressive and less constitutionalist. I have libertarian friends that are staunch constitutionalists, and see the need to save the nation even if that means abandoning a libertarian candidate that can't win.
Fact is KC is a good man, knows more about legislating than do most all of his detractors and was scummed in the latest democrap recipie for winning elections with carpet bagging party whores.
Libertarians here BELIEVED THE LIES. At least some did.
Just like the zombie, one hand full of gimmie and the other full of much obliged Obamites with government cell phones.....
Sad.
Yep I'm retiring in Texas.......
Hope you fellars find a way to save the great State of Virginia, I've done my best.
If not contact me when you head South.

Let me see if I understand, rather. We have a Gov elect that hasn't been able to do anything and the general consensus is the GA will not pass anything further limiting our liberty so you're going to Tx where OC is illegal, to include printing?

Here are the duties of each office:
Gov -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Governor_of_Virginia (yea, I know.... couldn't immediately find one in virginia.gov))
Lt. Gov -
http://www.ltgov.virginia.gov/education ... Office.cfm
AG -
http://www.ag.virginia.gov/About%20the% ... ities.html
Honestly, to me Gov and Lt Gov seem more about managing and controlling processes (under the GA). I'm guessing that _if_ mischief is to be caused, a more appropriate or easier area would be as AG through opinions and (maybe throwing?) cases. I'm not sure I really umderstand the durability of AG opinions, though. What would happen if one AG revered an opinion of another AG?

I wasn't born and raised here in the Commonwealth, but by cracky, I ain't leavin! We need to stand and fight these buttheads. Two things I think each of us should be doing: 1. Get involved with local politics on the town and county level; 2. Get involved with your local Republican party. This is the only way we are going to be able to affect what happens in our communities, and who the party puts forth as a viable candidate.
And for those who are talking about leaving, no hard feelings. See ya!

Don't let the door hit ya on the way out. This nation was birthed by people who fought for what they wanted, and I don't intend to run just because the NOVA come-here's and the idiots in Norfolk/VA Beach/Newport News/Charlottesville/etc. put some carpet-bagging moron in the Governor's mansion. Best way to drive those people out is to make life uncomfortable for 'em. Put people in office that they don't agree with, then they'll start leaving.
