Dave - Here's something of a teaser then. All put together after I laid a coat of brown on it.

I couldn't just bend the lip at the rear of the dustcover - the gap was too large I thought and didn't want to risk bending the whole thing. I think I would have had to make a cut where the 90* bends are for the side. Now just need to rewrap portions of the stock with paracord and some grip tape for the buttstock and it'll be good to go.

My guess is that on milled receivers there won't be any treating of the metal to be done.

Yeah, but it's gonna have to wait until I recover from this year. Wedding, roof and fencing the yard killed me.

I hear that, I was just reading about the build y'all had. I have a couple kits I got for a good price and don't really have the knowledge to build myself. I have an idea of what to do, but I think it would be awesome to be involved in the process with experienced people. Well merry Christmas and let me know if you get the bug in you again, thanks
